Just returned from BWV - standard view 3105/3107 (two bedroom lockoff).

Room was in great shape - one missing drawer knob was the extent of the issues with the room. And very clean. This is was the cleanest and best maintained room we'd been in.

New sofabed was great. The king mattress was firmer than we've had in the past as well.

Far enough down the hall and high enough to see some fireworks - had to teach my kids the "stairs shortcut" to the pool though.

Took clueless newbies, will probably come back to talk about our guests (who were fine - trailed us without whining, hadn't planned but weren't unwilling to follow us. We did have some issues in that their kids were rather whimpy, but since one of them was always content to wait with the kids, it worked fine for us (though I did feel bad that they missed a lot and seemed to spend a lot of time waiting). They did, however, seem to have a good time, regardless. And their kids loved the pool.

Glad you had a great time.

How old were the guest kids?

We're taking friends next summer who have never been and their kids will be 3, 5, and 7. I think they'll be flexible enough to not push their kids to much, but you never know.

Thanks!

I'm glad you were able to enjoy this vacation, and in fact, thought it was lovely!

Mine are eight and nine - and rather wimpy kids - this was their first trip on Splash or Space Mountain (they liked them both) and they haven't been brave enough for Tower of Terror.

But theirs are seven and eight - and if mine are rather wimpy - these two - as a combined pair - made mine look like daredevils. One didn't like loud noises, one didn't like things coming at him. So we had one on Haunted Mansion, but not the other, both went through Philharmagic, but one didn't like it because of the 3D effects. One went on Splash, but didn't really like it.

They stuck to us - which, since they weren't complaining, was fine. And we altered our own "musts" only a little to accomodate them. Plus we spent an extra day - a MK day - to be able to fit in a little more and get some "family time." We also did one night out where they went back for an early bed and we went into Epcot for extra magic hours (were still back in bed by 10:30). I'd highly recommend staying an extra day (or coming in a day early) so you get some of your "own" vacation.

We do push - it was a short trip - four park days for them, five for us. Which makes for a sort of cranky trip (it was supposed to be three originally, I talked my husband out of three - those of you that go a few times a year can do three, we only go every other year or so).

Was the room sort of in a location that you requested? Or have you just stopped asking?

For our GG next year, DH and I have booked a 1 night AKV concierge stay after the family goes home. I gave it a lot of thought, and I wanted just some quality time for him and me, it will be our 40 anniversary celebration. So, I read what you said about an extra day and smiled:goodvibes

Stopped asking. We've always been given the exact opposite of our requests.

crisi...glad to hear you had a good trip and that the accommodations satisfied you on cleanliness and upkeep. :)

If memory serves me correctly, you don't go to WDW every year, do you? In any event, I'm happy that your guests didn't drag down the enjoyment of your family. We have taken guests just once and though they weren't wimpy, it's just hard to match up likes and dislikes especially when the guests aren't very familiar with WDW.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and impressions. :)

I remember in your pre-trip posts you had some concerns about this trip so it's good to hear that things went well. I hope you had the opportunity to enjoy yourself and didn't just end up playing tour guide the whole time.

Crisi:

I had the same experience with newbies.

We took both of my sisters and their families. They were less than grateful, and their ideas about how to vacation at Disney are completely different than mine. I don't fry bacon during rope drop! I don't think the restaurants on 192 are a God send!

The trip wasn't that bad, and I did learn a few things that I wouldn't have if I had not been with them. Fantasyland after Wishes is absolutely magical. We waited 5 minutes for Dumbo!

We always like to have a couple of days to ourselves after guests too. We figured that out after a couple of times of having guests for the whole trip. You are very lucky the kids and adults accepted "waiting" when they didn't want to participate. One thing I think Disney does well, is give complacent folks a LOT of things to look at and take in beyond the rides and shows. Glad your worst fears weren't realized!

Generally, yep.

We last went in 2005. Last year we cruised (cash). This year was supposed to be a family reunion trip, but my baby sister flaked out (alcoholic), my other sister had a baby and a breast removed in the same year - we decided to postpone the trip until next year. Maybe the baby sister will be deflaked (maybe not, but my kids are ready to have their own second bedroom if they don't come). But that left me with 159 banked points to use up - so we decided to fly down. My husband didn't want to commit to a lengthy trip, we could put us in a two bedroom - so that meant we could spread out - or bring people.

The husband of this couple is a good friend of my husband's. His wife we could take or leave, but she was doing the "take the kids, and both grandmothers (!) to Disney" talk - having never been and being nearly clueless.

My dearest hope is that I have now saved you all from this family standing in the middle of Main Street looking at a map after having shown up in the parks at 2:00 pm and wondering where they can sit down for a good steak dinner that night.
