Hello All!

Just got back from a quick, impromptu trip to the World so that I could tour the Castle Suite ... WOW!! What a fabulous time!! I meet up with a few fellow Dis-ers (Connie & Scott and Gina & Mark:wave: ) and we had a wonderful time on the tour. My few days at WDW were so much fun!

I wanted to do a quick review of my first stay at SSR. If anyone is interested, here goes:

First off, let me just say that the resort is amazing, absolutely beautiful! I will not hesitate to stay here again. I was in a 1 BR, lock-off, in The Springs and my villa was in beautiful shape. I only had to call Mousekeeping to bring the remote for the DVD player and I had it in under 5minutes.

Each and every one of the CMs I encountered were pleasant and helpful.

Really had no problems with the bus service, and there was a Greeter at the Springs stop each day tracking the arrival times of each bus. When we hit the 20 minute mark for our Studios bus he quickly got on his radio and called for a "reserve" bus that arrived in 4 minutes.

A few observations, wondering if anyone feels the same way. These will not keep me from staying at SSR again, absolutely LOVE the resort. Just curious if anyone else noticed these things, too.

1. The ONLY thing I disliked about this resort are the open-air, exterior hallways. They felt a bit institutional and were extremely long and stuffy. For a condo-style resort, I prefer the layout at OKW where flights of stairs directly access 2 - 4 villas.

2. Though the layout of the rooms is the same as BCV and VWL, the rooms are a bit smaller. Not noticable when just arriving, but becomes apparent as you stay there. For example, the shower is much smaller, which makes the wall space in the bathroom smaller, which puts the towel bars in all the wrong places! (Bath towel by sink, hand towel by shower, no place for hand towels near the tub) The vanity next to the tub is much smaller, too. Drawers are small and not deep enough for anything and there is not a shelf under the mirror.
The biggest place I noticed the difference in size was in the closet off the bath. We were able to put the open Pack 'n Play in there at VWL, but not at SSR!! The closet was about half the size and was also the location of the ironing board, vaccuum and P 'n P ... didn't leave much room for clothes!

3. No "hall" closet -- but this could be because I was in a 1Br lock-off. I have only stayed in dedicated 1BR and 2BR before. As stated before, this meant that everything was stored in the one closet in the bathroom.

4. Didn't like that the fans/vents in the bathrooms were on sensors and not controlled by wall switches. They came on everytime you walked into the room and were a bit loud (especially when heading in there at night!) then, the sensor was in a place that your movement in the shower didn't cause it to turn on, which was probably when I needed it the most as I enjoy very hot showers!

I'm glad you were so happy with your SSR accomodations. I treated DSis to an SSR stay and she got the Springs a studio and she was thrilled, too.

What a special trip you had!

Haven't stayed in a studio at SSR, only a 1-bedroom. Didn't notice the differences. I'll be on the lookout now. Thanks!
Glad you had a great trip! It was wonderful sharing that experience with you.

And no mention of your Castle Suite experience?? :confused3 Must you leave those of us who were not so fortunate wondering?? ;)

Thanks for your report! I am glad you had a nice stay. You didn't happen to see a list of the resort activities (movies at the pool, etc. did you?

Joy -

I have a list in the folder in my luggage ... let me get it unpacked tonight and I will post it for you. princess:

Sorry - gave it a quick "WOW!" in my first post and thought I would do the rest in the Castle Suite thread ...

Since you asked, though, it was AMAZING! Especially since I got to experience it with some fellow Dis-ers who were as excited about it as I was. The CMs who did the tour were fun and made a point of making sure we each had a wonderful experience. Some of the fun tidbits I learned...

1. There is a grandfather clock in the foyer before the elevator that is stopped at 11:59 -- that way the magic is still in place for everyone and the spell hasn't been broken.

2. The interior of the private elevator was designed to match the interior of Cinderella's coach.

3. Her glass slipper, size 7 1/2, is on display in the upper foyer along with her crown and a beautiful pumpkin.

4. There is a beautiful mosaic of Cinderella's coach, similar to the ones in the pass through of the castle, on the floor of the upper foyer.

5. The story of Cinderella is shown through scenes in the stained glass windows and carvings around the suite.

6. Fresh flowers are delivered to the suite 3 times a week.

7. Out of 60,000+ CMs, 24 were chosen to be Concierge CMs for the suite ... a very select group!

8. The fireplace also has a "fireworks" show in it, which includes a hidden Mickey.

9. The music from Wishes and SpectroMagic are played in the suite.

10. The sunken tub has colorful lights in the bottom and a stary sky above.

It was absolutely GORGEOUS!! princess:

Jennie,

Sounds like a great trip - the studios at SSR don't have any drawers in the sink/vanity area -- really dumb! Glad to hear that the 1BR at least have some!

OMG you are soo lucky!!! This is why I want to live in FL..to be so close to Disney would be amazing.

I so would have gone on the tour!

Glad to hear you liked SSR. We're headed there in October for our first trip home!
