Hi all!
We just returned from our fabulous Disney trip last night and just wanted to tell everyone how much we LOVED POFQ!!! The only bad thing we can say is that the pool being closed was a pain in the butt because my kids are total water rats and love to swim but that really has nothing to do with the quality of the resort. Theming was awesome, rooms were beautiful, mousekeeping was great, I could go on and on...... I actually was second-guessing my decision to stay there because we had had a good trip to POR 2 years ago but I am sooo glad that we stuck with it. We had 2 towel creations [ the 1st was a heart] including an adorable cat who is currently sitting on my bed. We did not find the lack of a sit-down restaurant to be in convenient as we ate all our TS meals in the parks. Any questions?

I'm so glad to see a positive post about Port Orleans. It seems to have been getting a bad rap lately. Glad you had a good time.

Glad to hear it too! We're scheduled to be at POR in May and I too was having some anxiety about mousekeeping in particular. Too bad about the pool being closed. Did you make use of the one at POR? Thanks for the positive feedback. Have a nice day.:goodvibes

Glad to hear you loved this resort. We will be staying there for the first time in Dec/08 - can't wait. Any tips for the hotel, any pics??

Yes, I agree we had a sickness shortened Vacation during Mardi Gras Weekend a few weeks ago. We had stayed at POR twice in '06 and loved it. We figured that POFQ was that good also but better as POFQ is the first bus stop from the resorts and when leaving the resort, and also you don't have to stop at POR when going to DTD. The only downside we noticed was the floatworks counter service. Hectic after about 8:00 am. But we got there at 7:30 and it was manageable. I think POFQ is the hidden gem of WDW resorts. It is by far the smallest and has a water taxi to DTD. Oh by the way. If you tip the maids just a little they treat you so much better. It amazes me how people will tip 18%-20% for a meal and do not tip the person that cleans your bathroom and makes your bed. The mousekeepers leave a little card to let you know who last "serviced" your room. Please do not tip on your last day there for your trip because there may be a different person(shift change) servicing your room throughout your stay. Tip each day when you leave in the morning. I usually leave $3-$5 per morning. We had the best towel dolls the first day, she used rubber bands, stickers etc. It must have taken her 10 minutes to do them. Oh by the way due to having to leave early during last trip we are already planning to go back in Nov. '08.:thumbsup2

Great to hear this... we just switched to the POFQ for our May Trip... :) I am super excited...

My daughter and I have already made our mouse keeping envelopes she decorated them... They are in her suit case and I told her shes responsible for putting them out each day... SHE LOVES THE IDEA... and I agree I thought leaving a few dollars each day is SOOO worth it... :) We even have the $$$ in there.... We cant wait... :) :yay: :woohoo:

Glad you enjoyed it SuzieN. :)

DW and I will be at POR May 13-20. We can't wait!

It is great to hear such wonderful review of this resort. We we are looking forward to being there Nov. 9th-16th. From the minute I started researching this resort, I thought it would fit our needs perfectly.

My theory on tipping in a hotel room is "I would rather give someone money, than them take something from me". Everyone is human and has a conscience.

We stayed at POFQ last year and loved how close together everything was. Would def. stay there again.

Yeah I replied to someone else on another board how our room was literrally a 2 minute walk to the front lobby/food court in one direction and the same distance to the boat launch in the other direction. I don't know of any other resort on Disney that is such.

I have stayed there once before I loved it. It's a compact resort so it only takes a couple minutes to go anywhere in the resort. The boat launch to DTD is wonderful. I liked the theming and the landscaping was beautiful. The beignets in the food court are sinfully good. All in all I loved it.

We loved POFQ last June also! It is just a beautiful, peaceful place! Everything was perfect and we didn't have any complaints.

We did walk over to POR twice to use their pools. The 1st time a gentlman driving a golf cart stopped and gave us a ride back. It's actually a very nice, 10 minute walk along the river. We also tipped our mousekeeper, Fanny, everyday, like a previous poster did, $3-$5. We spent most of our time in the parks but did enjoy the boat to DTD twice. I hope everyone who is staying there has as great an experience as we did!

Thanks for the great review!! My DD and DGD (5) will be staying at POFQ in August for the first time. Can't wait!!

We love POFQ! Three more days and we'll be there enjoying every minute. We have had great mousekeeping and many towel animals during our stays. I love the size and ease of getting around. We usually make mousekeeping envelopes and leave one each day. Who doesn't appreciate having someone saying thank you!

POFQ here we come!:dance3:
