Just got back from the fort...CANNOT say enough great things about the fort...first we absolutely thought the cabins were perfect for us. Mom loved them and that was my main concern. With this being her first visit to WDW and staying in a cabin I was really concerned for her sake as far as convenience and comfort (she is 83). We had plenty of room and the peace and quiet was wonderful!!! The bus system was no problem and everyone was so understanding and accommodating with her and her scooter use.. Trails End was yummy and the cocktail we got were pretty good too :thumbsup2 Just wanted to thank y'all for the advice and all the wonderful tips... Julie

Oh, good. I'm glad you had a good experience. We're headed to the Cabins next month and have never stayed there before. We were mostly concerned about the buses there, but it sounds like transportation worked well for you.

Thank you for the quick report!! Glad you enjoyed your trip!:goodvibes It is nice to hear about your mom enjoying it too. I would like to take my mom during FWF in 2012 and I have been fluctuating between an Epcot resort, POR, or POP (we are going with dh's family to POP this Christmas). Because my mom tires easily, I never considered the Fort. I thought it would be too much walking. But my parents do like their privacy so it just might be a better option. I may have to reconsider!!!

My dh, kids and I are actually headed to the FW cabins in less than a week for spring break. It will definitely be a different experience for us but my boys are more excited to be staying at Fort Wilderness than they were last year to stay at the Polynesian! They've got their flashlights, canteens, and Smore's fixin's ready to go! They even watched Davy Crockett last weekend to get in the Frontier spirit! Something about a campground and little boys just go together!!! :lovestruc

Just wondering if you did the dining plan, and if so what you did for counter service credits at Fort Wilderness.

We did not use the dining plan. We took advantage of the full kitchen and bought groceries from wal-mart the first day. Just another reason I loved the cabins...We took our time in the morning ..had a great breakfast and OUR OWN coffee in the morning on the porch...ahhhh heaven...
