My family and I plus one friend went to Cocoa Beach for the weekend before going to Disney and we loved it. We stayed at the Marriott Courtyard, had a 6th floor balcony which we could see the Ocean and the cruise ships leaving. I must also give a big thanks to Shirley because we used alot of her advice. We ate at Fishlips with another group of friends (11 in all) and it was great. The kids took surf lessons with Ron Jon Surf School and they were up and riding the waves in no time. It was a very relaxing weekend and I would not hesitate to go back again.:thumbsup2

We're glad you enjoyed it. We have a weekend condo there and love it too!

I'm doing DW with my mom and kids -- we are thinking of taking a day to go to Cocoa Beach -- any suggestions as to which beach/park we should go to? And are there things to do on the road from Orlando to the coast?

Take the 528 east into Cape Canaveral and it turns into A1A along the coast. Shepherd Park or the Pier area are the most popular choices, although some folks like to go out to Jetty Park past the port. Facilities are available at those places. If you just want quiet beach, simply turn east from A1A on virtually any road leading to the peir and there is parking and beach access at the end of the street.

One day visitors would enjoy a stop at Ron Jon and Cocoa Surf Company, while you can east at Coconuts on teh beach or stop pout at the Port (Grills, Rustys and Fishlips are viable options).

Enjoy!
