Love is a song that never ends
Life may be swift and fleeting
Hope may die, yet love's beautiful music
Comes each day like the dawn

Love is a song that never ends
One simple theme repeating
Like the voice of a heavenly choir
Love's sweet music flows on

Like the voice of a heavenly choir
Love's sweet music flows on

Ah! Sweet Mystery of Life
At last,I've found you.
Ah! At last I know the secret of it all.
For the longing, seeking, striving, waiting, yearning,
The burning hopes,
The joy and idle tears that fall.

For 'tis love and love alone,
The world is seeking.
And 'tis love and love alone,
That can repay.
'Tis the answer, 'tis the end and all of living,
For it is love alone that rules for aye.

My Cat

I drove home from work
In a cold winter storm.
My cat crawled under the hood
To keep dry and warm.

I got back into my car
To drive to the store.
I do not have
That cat anymore.

I bet you miss your little kitty. :grouphug:

I wrote a poem for you CR. ::Ahem::

Where ever CathrynRose goes
She picks her nose
On the DIS she has some foes
Because they can't keep their mouth closed
But that's ok, she just thinks they're H**s

Yeah - still not 'getting it'

I'm quite impressed with those who chose to post THEIR original poetry. :goodvibes

There once was a man from Nantucket

.....nevermind:rotfl:

Personally, I love Seamus Heaney :goodvibes

Blackberry-picking

Late August, given heavy rain and sun
For a full week, the blackberries would ripen.
At first, just one, a glossy purple clot
Among others, red, green, hard as a knot.
You ate that first one and its flesh was sweet
Like thickened wine: summer's blood was in it
Leaving stains upon the tongue and lust for
Picking. Then red ones inked up and that hunger
Sent us out with milk cans, pea tins, jam-pots
Where briars scratched and wet grass bleached our boots.
Round hayfields, cornfields and potato-drills
We trekked and picked until the cans were full,
Until the tinkling bottom had been covered
With green ones, and on top big dark blobs burned
Like a plate of eyes. Our hands were peppered
With thorn pricks, our palms sticky as Bluebeard's.

We hoarded the fresh berries in the byre.
But when the bath was filled we found a fur,
A rat-grey fungus, glutting on our cache.
The juice was stinking too. Once off the bush
The fruit fermented, the sweet flesh would turn sour.
I always felt like crying. It wasn't fair
That all the lovely canfuls smelt of rot.
Each year I hoped they'd keep, knew they would not.

Jack and Jill went up the hill
Both with a buck and a quarter
Jill came down with two-fifty

Jill is one smart girl. :rolleyes1

I think you're missing a line of your poem :scratchin

Track 2
Nobody's Moggy Now
© 1982 Eric Bogle

Somebody's Moggy by the side of the road
Somebody's kitty who forgot his highway code
Someone's favourite feline who ran clean out of luck
When he ran into the road and tried to argue with a truck

Yesterday he purred and played in his ***** paradise
Decapitating tweety birds and masticating mice
Now he's just six pounds of raw mincemeat
That don't smell very nice - >-p

He's nobody's Moggy now!

Now, you who love your *****, be sure to keep him in
Don't let him argue with a truck, the truck is bound to win
And upon a busy road, don't let him play or frolic
If you do, I'm warning you, it could be cat-astrophic

If he plays out on the roadway I'm afraid that will be that
There will be one last despairing "meow" and a sort of squelchy 'splat'
And your ***** will be slightly dead and very, very flat
He's nobody's Moggy - just red and squashed and soggy -

He's nobody's Moggy nooow...

I can just hear Madeline Kahn singing this in "Young Frankenstein". Funniest.Movie.Ever.

Bunnies

Bunnies are brown
Bunnies are white
Bunnies are always
A lovely delight.

Bunnies are cuddly
The large and the small.
But I like chocolate ones
The best of them all. :goodvibes :cloud9: :goodvibes

You first snookums:love: :goodvibes :cloud9:

Haha, girl. I just realized I can't send any Private Messages till April 16th. I got points today. Too many. :lmao:

Anyway, to stay on topic, poetry is great! Rhyme, alliteration, assonance, and consonance are ways of creating repetitive patterns of sound. :thumbsup2
