I have been able to give 2 cruises for honeymoons for our children. We could never afforded to pay for 7 nt. cruises otherwise.

Good for you emtnannie- Now a question... Looks like the cruises are very expensive even w/ DVC points! Per person for us = 7- for a cruise how did you save points? OR what did you do to gain additional points? I was adding up and looks like 1st- we would definitely need more than one room AND for one person looks to be approx half our planned purchase points which is making me rethink how many points we should purchase into because I would LOVE & expect to go on at least one Disney Cruise in my life- hopefully others- 2nd- Is it just per person or also per room and night- I could be adding wrong but I don't think so. Thanks for any insight

I just booked our 1st cruise using points on Friday. The points in the charts are per person for the entire cruise (not per night), based on double-occupancy and apply to 1st/2nd Passenger. They include Stateroom accomodations, food and entertainment. Additional passengers in the the same stateroom require less points...

Total points cost was 494 for 4 of us (161 for DH, 161 for me, 86 for DD, 86 for DS) We only have 225, so I had to bank and borrow. I already had some banked due to the Developer pts we received when joining (used those for our 2008 trips) and then borrowed some, still leaving some for a small vacation the following year.
There are many opinions on whether its wise to use points for cruises, but we'd never pay the cash for a trip like that, so pre-paying the points will allow us to pay once, then only have to save up cash for the extras on the trips...

Kerickson,

Do passports need to be obtained before the cruises? Also so w/ our group we would need 2 rooms even though they are kids? Will they allow kids to room on their own?-
Good idea to use developer points w/ buy in pts- Didn't think of that one!

Kerickson,

Do passports need to be obtained before the cruises?

I believe about 2 years ago a passport became required to gain re-entry to the US from the Bahamas. So yes, passports required and give yourself plenty of time to get them before the cruise! :-)
