SWA doesn't seem to offer the "specials" for New Orleans as other airports. Why is that? I'm not very experienced at flying strategies so tell me what you do. We live near Baton Rouge. Are there any other airlines that I should check in B.R. or N.O.? I'll need 4 tickets in September (Fri-Sat). Since Sept dates are opening tomorrow, I don't know whether to buy now or wait? What would be considered a good price vs a great price? Thanks...;)

I'm interested in this too. Last December we flew out of New Orleans. I'd rather take a little extra time flying and go nonstop than spend the whole day making stops in other airports. We are planning this year for end of November and hoping to get some specials.

I flew last May and got a really good "ding" rate out of New Orleans, I think I paid $140 roundtrip.
This year, I booked a little early because we had a group of 10 and didn't want to miss the opportunity to all fly together... Got tickets for $211 roundtrip per person. Then about 2 weeks later, got a "ding" price, and rebooked at $156 roundtrip per person.

I really like Southwest, because they are nonstop flights (very nice when you have children), they don't charge for baggage (which ALL of them do now, except for Southwest), and the rates are always pretty good out of New Orleans - even if you don't get a ding. I would wait till you get a little closer though....
