Lotsa bugs at POR?

We stayed at POR from May 13 to May 27....

And boy were they bugs!!

I think that some were love bugs.....

But my question is... is it always this way?

We are planning on going back in August 2008

but the bugs could be a factor of us not returning there even though we loved it....

But the bugs were everywhere and never leave us alone

From the posts that I have read about the love bugs, they show up twice a year on bad years. May and August-September. I think you just picked the wrong times to go. When the love bugs are in their loving mood, I think they are all over WDW, not just at POR. I've only been to WDW in January-no bugs whatsoever and beautiful weather. How about a January trip?

My sister lives in FL and they were TERRIBLE in may she said! She lives in Ft. Myers.

We were there May 10 - 14. No more bugs than normal.

Typically they come in September, but you could see them as early as mid August and as late as mid October. They don't bite, but if there are lots of them, they look like black snow in the air. They love white, so white benches, walls, riverboats and clothes are lovebug magnets. They weren't bad in Orlando in May, but in some parts of the state they were pretty heavy. Last September they were heavy at Disney around the third week of the month.

We were there at the end of May and there were a ton of them then, too. It's just the time of year for them, nothing you can do. They didn't bother us though, no big deal.

We stayed at POR last September and there were lots of lovebugs..thank goodness, they don't bite. They were in the parks too. It got to the point where they didn't irk me all that much-I would much rather deal with lovebugs than heavy crowds.

We stayed at CSR 5/26 - 5/31 and the love bugs were everywhere. We have never seen them that bad on our previous May trips. Just timing I guess.

I have been to POR over the years in February, Beginning of May, and Mid August. I have never seen bugs.

My sister and I were at WDW last September and they were everywhere; not just the hotels. My family and I went in September 2005 and did not see that at all. Do they only come every other year?

I guess we've been lucky in August, we've never seen a bug problem.

They were there last Sept (3rd week) and we are goin late Aug. 1st week of Sept. I really hope they are not there again. Very annoying!

We are going the 3rd week in September this year. Are the bugs so bad that you can't enjoy yourself if you are outside?? Are they worse during the day or worse at night? I'm starting to get a little nervous!!

We were there the last week of Sept last year, they were pretty bad. Not bad enough I would not go back. They are relatively harmless. Just don't wear white and you'll be fine. They don't fair well in rain, if that helps. They do appear in May and Sept. Hope this helps.
