Hi there, still trying to decide if we should do Memories package or off property. Not crazy about any of the locations offered, they seem a bit too busy for a ceremony to not be a spectacle. I am looking for something private, but have not been able to find any pics of the Wilderness lodge location. Would Narcoosees landing be too busy? I am worried about how busy that area is. Are ther any other areas they might let people use?

Memories does not seem to include an officiant, how much should I budget for this? Is there anything else missing that I have not noticed?

If I get married off property, can I still do a cake from Disney? It will just be the two of us, can we do a dinner in our wedding attire at a Disney resteraunt? I am thinking Narcoosees or California Grill.

It is my understading that we could do a private dinner at Illuminations, but we can't wear the wedding attire, right? Can we get a photographer? Or use the Memories 1 hour photos for this?

What photographers can you recommend in the Orlando area?

Sorry for all the questions, I feel wildy unprepared. To be honest, we are leaning more toward a ceremony off property because I think we could get more for our money and I really want to get a good photographer ad know that will be an investment.

I can attempt to answer some of your questions:

Here is a picture of the Wilderness Lodge location:

You can always order a cake from Disney's cake hotline. You can wear your dress into any resort restaurant, just not into any of the parks.

My hubbie and I are trying to book Randy Chapman for our escape vow renewal. On his blog, he posted a special for memories brides. You can look into him, or use the included photographer.

As for the officiant: Disney will give you a list that you can book. It seems the average rate is about $200.

Other elements not included in the package are your hair and make-up, grooms boutonniere, and cake.

I invested in PassPorter's Disney Wedding & Honeymoons. The e-edition was only about $9, and totally worth it. She has a section dedicated to the memories package, and how to add a private dining event.

Happy planning :goodvibes

I second the purchase of the passporters wedding guide and if you do the "e book" format you'd have it right away - and its up-dateable

You will find lots of photography recommendations here, we used davîd and Vicki Arndt and they are so wonderful!

I am intimidated by an e book, no idea how to do that or use it. I am on a dinosaur of a computer. Is it idiot proof?

Thanks so much for your help! Is it possible to do a Magic Kingdom shoot with a Memories package?

I am going to try to dl the Passporter tonight when my fiance gets home, he is much better with computers than I am! Wish me luck!

It is pretty idiot proof and updateable. However you can definitely order a hard copy and it *might* be sitting on a shelf right now at the local book seller.

I prefer a hard copy book usually, but especially since brides planning into Tge future may encounter changes to DFTW offerings, the ebook would give yourhise updates incorporated into your book AND instant gratification with the immediate download. You just type in following prompts and have it put on your desk top. Very simple. Passporters provides excellent customer service. And I'm just saying that the author is often LURKYLOO-ing about around here and could point you in the right way of customer service if for some reason you find it hard. I guess if it's your computer that is the dinosaur it might take a little time to download.... ( mine took minutes):thumbsup2

These are great questions - in my opinion, I think the WDW packages are 1. giving you access to on property places and 2. bundling everything, which makes it easier on you.

I'm eager to see if you would save money or it would be about the same! Good luck planning!!!!

We did a Memories VR last July - used the Luau Beach location and did not see one single person - so it was plenty private - just the 2 of us, the officiant, photographer and planner.:lovestruc

We DID add a extra photo shoot - so yes you can (we chose Hollywood Studios).

The officiant was $250 (if I remember correctly) - Rev. Kevin Knox
Added hair and makeup for me - Beauty on Site - think it was 150.00 - well worth it.....

We then had dinner at Victoria & Albert's in our attire - it was very romantic and completed the day perfectly -

And I think the Passporter book is a great - full of info .....

We used Disney Photography services - and while they get a bad rap sometimes - we didn't have any problems and were super pleased with all our pics.....

For the $$ and ease of having DFTW handling all the details - it was the best choice for us - :flower3:

That sounds lovely!!!

I want to do a VR, just us and our daughter. Do you have a thread with all your details, pictures, etc? I would love to hear more about the photo shoot, ceremony, planning, etc!

If you don't have your heart set on a DFTW then you could always opt for a Swan/Dolphin wedding. They are still on Disney property so you'd still have the Disney feel to your wedding. They start at $1,595 and that includes as many guests as you want. We're having 50. You cannot have a Magic Kingdom shoot unless you go with DFTW though, so that puts a lot of people off. You can still have characters at your wedding, you can still have a dessert party, and you can have a photo shoot in any of the other 3 parks. The wedding planners at Just Marry (the company that handles S/D weddings) are great and they'll let you customize anything and everything. We're using some of their vendors and we've booked a few of our own to cut costs.

Good luck deciding, there are so many great options in the Disney area!
