Hello,
Usually a WDW visitor but we find ourselves in a situation whereby we might be given a 5 night trip to DCR over May halfterm. We visited DLRP the first year it opened and I can't remember where we stayed and we visited again about four years ago and stayed at the Sequioa which we did like.

I read the useful threads above but still have lots of questions.

Where can I find out about crowd numbers? How busy will May half term be? DH is very concerned about crown numbers as he wasn't impressed with the style of queing on previous visits to DLRP! I think the holiday is already booked from the Sunday 24th May to the following Thursday.

What are your best Table Service restaurants, your best counter service and your must do character meal for a couple of princess loving girls?!?!? and where do I find out the prices?

Also, when are the calendar of events released for May? Looking on the official site it seems to only go up to March. What parades and fireworks are going at that time and how frequent are they at that time of year?
Any ideas of park opening times in May? I'm guessing there's one or two EMH's in the morning for on-site guests?

What are your opinions on the DCR, we are 2 adults and two littles 'uns 6 and under. We do like a seperate living area for when the girls go to bed so the layout suits but what is it really like? especially the pool area?

I'm sure there will be other questions but that's it for now.

Thank you very much in advance:thumbsup2

Hello!

On the meals front, I'd recommend the Auberge for your daughters, it's a Princess meal.... Cafe Mickey is also a fabulous character meal! Both are table service. My other fave table service restaurants are the California Grill in the Disneyland Hotel (But this is a pricey option) as well as the Chicago Steakhouse, The Rainforest Cafe, Annettes Diner, and the Blue Lagoon.... :goodvibes

I don't think there will be fireworks in May, but there will be a daily parade...

Sorry I can't help more!

there isnt any official site to find out about crowd numbers. i would take a look at the trip report section at the top of the page to get an idea.

if you look at dlrp food guide it will give you an idea of menus but it is a little out of date. i think there are also some menus posted on the restaraunt review sticky. i had a great meal at cafe mickey but if you want a princess meal then it is at the auberge de cendrillon. its fine cuisine and quite expensive at 50 euro per adult and i think 25 per child.

dlrp magic has some info on upcoming events. there are no fireworks in may. there will be the once upon a dream parade in the main park and another parade in the studios. by may it will be mickeys magical party a celebration for mickeys birthday so there will be some new stuff on then

we stayed at DCR - the 2 bedroom cabins are better and worth the extra.

the pool is really nice - better than any of the other hotels

Bob has mentioned some restaurants but Inventions is also another pricy but very nice character buffet (in DLH)

I would expect that week to be quite busy as school holidays in the UK have quite an impact on DLRP.

It sounds like you would be better in a 2 bedroomed cabin at DCR - they are supposed to be newer than the one bed ones and have a seperate room with bunk beds for the children to sleep in.

If your daughters love the Princesses then a meal at the Auberge de Cendrillon is a must but this is about the most expensive meal in the Park - 61 Euros per adult and 22 Euros per child aged up to 11. The other 'top' meals would be a character buffet at Inventions (inside the Disneyland Hotel) - this is about 50 per adult and 25 per child. The California Grill is also in the Disneyland Hotel and is probably the most adult of meal settings...and also very expensive. Other character meals include Sunday Brunch at the Steakhouse (buffet for 35 Euros per adult and 10 per child) Cafe Mickey and Lucky Nugget.

As it is a holiday time you may be lucky and have EMH every day that you are there. As someone else told you - there will be no fireworks but the daily parade is the Once Upon a Dream Parade and goes at around 4pm or 5pm each day. The Studios will also have a new parade by then called Stars and their Cars.
The swimming pool at the DCR is fabulous, IMO and we spent a lot of time there last summer.

Hiya

We have stayed at DCR on many occasions. Definitely upgrade to a 2 bedroom cabin - it is worth the extra money.
The swimming pool is excellent.
Oner point to note. In May, you may well want to have a window or two open in the cabin for air. The cabins nearest to the DCR facilities (i.e. pool, bar, restaurant etc) are therefore nearest to the A4 Motorway, so you would hear trafiic noise. If you wish to reduce traffic noise, request a room nearer to the Reception end of DCR.
Good luck ! :)

Just a tip:

If you do want to eat as the pricier restaurants, definitely add Half Board Premium to your booking!

It works out at £35 per adult per day, but will completely pay for Auberge (61Eur) and Inventions (55Euro) so as you can see, with the current exchange rate its very much good value!

I dont know about kids prices though I'm afraid.

Welcome to the DLRP side! :wave2:

Last time we stayed at DCR we were in a 2 bedroomed cabin & it's worth paying extra for. If using a 1 bedroom we've given the kids the bedroom & we have slept on the pull down bed in the living room which was surprisingly comfy.

The pool at DCR is the best on site your girls will love it

Thank you all so much for your tips and suggestions :thumbsup2 I think it's a one bed unit that has been booked so we wouldn't have a choice for a two bed and to be honest, I'm not that bothered, it still offers more flexibility for us than a standard hotel room.
I'm not sure about adding the premium half board to our booking as I wouldn't want to spend that much on dinner every night and I am prepared to cook a couple of nights - as it's an unexpected trip, and we have other holidays to pay for this year, I want to keep the budget low.

Thanks again :thumbsup2
