I've loved reading about everyone's holiday trips - our's will be next December, well before Christmas so we hope to avoid a lot of crowds.

That said - is it warm enough to use the pools at all the first/second week of December?

Also, we'll be staying at BCV. I have two small children and have read that some people prefer a certain level - any recommendations? Ground floor best? Any other specific requests I ought to shoot for (knowing they aren't guaranteed, of course!)

Last question - I'm interested in feedback on the Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom - is it worth it?

Thanks and Happy New Year!

You know, different requests are important to different people.

Some people like the pool view because it's quieter. Some like the wetlands/woods view. Some will put up with the noise from the road to possibly get an Epcot view.

I have had the ground floor once and truthfully, I thought I'd hate it, but it was actually very convenient. No waiting for elevators or going down stairs, just down the hall.

I have also had levels above ground floor. Each room you get is going to have its pros and cons. Don't stress yourself out about the perfect room.

If you don't have a strong yen for anything specific, just ask for your smoking and handicapped preference and leave it at that. Sometimes the room assignors are so grateful for the lack of specific requests, you may get lucky and they'll assign a room to you that will be breathtaking.

Pools - I am from MN and a former competitive swimmer. I can deal with any water. That being said, the pools are heated to I believe around 84 - not sure on the number there. The air may be chilly, or it may be warm. That's the trouble with December - you can go from 40 to 80 in the space of a day. You may have to prepare yourself for some cold days. But worry about that as you get closer to the time.

Now regarding MVMCP, I have done it with my children who were 6 and 7 at the time. We loved MK inthe dark! We left shortly before the fireworks because DD then 6 was tired. We made the mistake of having a full park day (with afternoon break though) and she was wiped.

This next year, that day is going to be a resort day or something low key so everyone has the energy to stay a little longer.

Have fun! I'll be there Dec 3-11 and plan to enjoy every minute!

I don't like the ground floor units at BCV - it looks like walking along the sidewalk that connects you with BC and Epcot - that you could probably see in them ----

so the higher the better for me there - of course with little children you might like the first floor - because you don't need a elevators - or steps....

december's weather is very hard to predicit - I have been there when the highs were in 80's (most of the time) and when the high's were in 40's (once), 50's (once) - bring both some winter clothes and summer clothes - you might need them both in the same week.

yes most of the time you can go swimming in December - but that time when it was in 40's was a very bad week - the whole week was cold....

of course it depends upon your point of view - at VWL open house we meet a man who was going around in shorts (in 30 degree temperature) - I asked him if he was cold - No - he say that he left Alaska and it was 30 degree below zero - so as I say your point of view might be different than mind.

We did MVMCP for the first time this year and absolutely loved it (and we don't have kids yet)! I'm sure with your children, you will have a blast!

Mom & I were there Dec 9 to 18 this year.

The temperature varied a LOT some days were quite warm and perfect pool weather, others were very cold and wet, rainy...

This is the 2nd year we've done MVMCP, and we really enjoyed it, but it was one of those cool nights (no rain at least). WE plan on doing it again this year, along with a CP Dinner pkg.
