Lost weight for Mickey

Congrats!!! I just signed up for a gym, well I actually start going on Oct 1st. We are going out of town twice in Sept, so we figured it would be silly to have a membership that we barely use in the first month. Ideally I want to lose a whopping 50 lbs! I gained a lot of weight really fast over a 14-16 month period, then found out I have hypothyroidism. So now I take a thyroid medication, but I gained so much, I just want to go back to being in "my" body. My weight gain came to a sudden halt after I started the medicine. I have been dieting as well, having Slim Fast bars for breakfast and Weight Watchers meals for lunch. I am keeping my fingers crossed that by next summer I will be at my goal. :goodvibes Hearing stories like yours inspires me! I have hope! :thumbsup2

I'm jealous though. I wish I was at my goal weight. I've managed to make it halfway there though. 60 pounds down and 60 to go. :thumbsup2 I have been doing the Dr.'s RX Diet Program for the last 5 months.
For those who have never heard of it. I go to their office once a month and get weighed and measured, talk to the Dr. and pick up my month's supply of Phentermine, which I take once a day to curb my appetite. I follow a fairly low carb diet (about 30-40 carbs a day). I still have pizza about once a month, and occasional treats though.;). I'm supposed to exercise too, but I don't always find the time. Don't get me wrong, I have a 3 year old, I get plenty of exercise:lmao:, it's just not the "structured" :yay: kind you can count.

Be careful. Several of my co-workers and I were using Phentermine for awhile. One lost a lot of weight, but has gained most of it back VERY quickly; one started having health problems (may or may not be related to the Phentermine) and had to quit, and I just couldn't take the pills. I felt jittery and they made me very anxious and irritable. Good luck, and I hope you make it to your goal. Just be careful and aware of any changes in your moods, behavior or health.
 
I hit my goal weight this weekend. I had a goal of losing 35 pounds before our family trip to Disney World, and I made it with a few days to spare! I am wearing shorts now that I wore before having my son, and they are totally comfortable.

Congratulations! That is so great! Now you really have something to celebrate!!! :cheer2:
 
One of you asked how long it took me to lose the weight. It took me 20 weeks. I had some great weight loss weeks and some not so great ones, but I stuck with it. Now the weight is gone, but I am sure some of it will be back after Disney. (I know I can take it off again.)

I need/ want to do the same thing for our trip in December, not only because of the health issues but because I'm vain and don't want to be fat in my DD's first disney trip pictures!!

A tip I have from a UK site about weight loss is to eat your excercise calories.

When I follow my 1100 Cals a day diet - I excercise more so I can eat more.
Eg. If I do a body bump class at the gym that burns 300-400 Calories which I can then eat. I went from 12st4 to 10st12 earlier this year following this diet - and it was hardly starving myself.

I do worry about Disney food and weight gain, but remind myself that spending 14 days walking round the parks is actually good excercise for me as I spend most my time on my bum doing an office job. (unlike My poor DH who spends 12hrs a day on his feet as a chef - he is bound to put on weight - infact he has got his weight down to 9st12 so that he can eat and put on 12lbs!!)
