LOST SEASON 3 **Official** Discussion/Speculation Thread (No Spoilers)

Good episode last night I thought. Interesting ending with Jack looking like he's running for his life and then seeing he was running for the ball. Looking forward to next week to see what happens now that they are at the Others' place.

I liked it too. It'll be interesting to see what they do with this new info about Jack and Claire, but I'll post that on the spoilers thread.

I think Sayid is real close to wanting to kill or seriously hurt Locke too.

I thought last night's episode was great. I think Locke recognized the guy with the patch (can't remember his name) and that's why he purposely threw him into the invisible electric fence. Remember when "Patch" said to Locke that he thought he knew him, but the John Locke he knew was par -- then Danielle interrupted him. I think he was going to say paraplegic. I wonder if he had something to do with John being in the wheelchair and John wanted revenge. I still can't figure out why John hasn't told anyone he couldn't walk and now he can. It's just a little weird.

It was too weird seeing Jack playing with the Others. I have to assume they've brainwashed him or maybe he's just playing them until he can get away. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I just wonder how Jack and Claire are going to figure out they're siblings. She never found out her dad's name. Maybe Jack will be carrying a picture of him and she'll see it:confused3

I'm guessing Ben or Juliet or any one of the others will tell them eventually. It would appear after what Patchy said to Kate, Sayid and Locke that all or most of the Others were schooled on the losties and their histories.

I'd agree with this, the Others know so much about all of the Losties, that I'd be suprised if they didn't know Jack and Claire were related.

Also, I do think patch-eye guy was starting to say, "the Locke I knew was par," as in paralyzed.

Good episode last night.

I still can't figure out why John hasn't told anyone he couldn't walk and now he can. It's just a little weird.

I think it makes perfect sense. In Locke's backstories where he is paralyzed, we always see how much he hates people treating him like he's helpless. Now that he has this 2nd chance, why would he want to tell people about his condition (whatever it was that caused it)? He'd be too afraid they'd start to see him differently, treat him differently, and he doesn't want that again. I don't think it was his paralyzation that bothered him so much in those flashbacks - it was people's reactions to his paralyzation.

I don't think they'll necessarily find out. A LOT of the information given to us is just for us to know and make connections. Granted this is a much bigger connection than most others, but we don't see Kate figuring out that her dad knew Sayid or that her mom served Sawyer in the diner. We didn't see Shannon figure out that Jack was the one who didn't save her father. A lot of these connections are just for us, the viewers, and all the characters (save maybe the Others) are oblivious.

Then the end of yesterday's episode, Kate, Sayid and Locke find Jack and the Others that easily on their own Island? Why did Julia and Ben and Jack take a boat supposidly to get away because Kate would come back to save Jack and take it back to Kate's Island??? :confused3 It just made no sense to me!

I think the constant reference to the map that Sayid took from Patchy's house was to say that the only way they could find that compound was with that map. After all, that was day 80 and they'd wandered all over that island - our Losties wandering to different areas, the Tailies wandering back to the Losties, even Danielle hadn't found it in 16 years and she seemed to know that jungle pretty well.

Yeah, I guess it was the map. I just found it silly. To show the Others getting on a boat because they 'must' move because surely Kate would come back for Jack to that other island. Then they go back to the main island (where our Losties are) and are found in a matter of a couple of days. I don't know why but it just bugged me.

Regardless, it was a GREAT episode.

I missed last night's episode. Sounds like I missed a good one! Going to have to watch it online, forgot to tape it too.

I think the others are trying to re-create the Garden of Eden. May not have started out that way but that is the current plan. Remember Adam & Eve?

It would also explain them only wanting the people on the list.

I didn't catch this while watching and I saw this frame posted on a Lost forum. VERY interesting. Could just be unintentional, but considering how many different takes there probably were for that shot, he would have had time to ditch the note. So did Charlie palm the rescue note?

I just rewatched that scene and the screen capture posted definitely comes after Charlie has attached the note to the bird's leg. Hmmmm...I'm not sure what to think. It could be that Charlie doesn't want to get off the island go back to the real world. He is happy with Claire, he has kicked his drug habit and he is happy on the island. Hmmmm...

Very interesting shot. But if you were going to send an SOS like that, wouldn't you check one last time before letting it go, just to make sure it's nice and secure? Although I've also been wondering how that note is going to be legible by the time someone finds it, it being a sea bird and all.

I bet it is a mistake. He was supposed to pretend to put the note on the birds leg and it got in the shot. Usually LOST will make a point of showing a suspicious look on his face or something like that around him doing that. You never know though I guess.

And speaking of those darned birds, wouldn't they have caught all they could with the net? I mean, really, they gave up after one try when the ONE bird flew away because of the gunshot. Birds/seagulls would fly right back into the trap if there was chopped up fish under there. Anyone in their right mind would figure out that the ONE bird they attached the note to could be not found or die on the way, etc. Why not attach 20 or even 50 notes to the birds? Well not 20-50 on ONE bird, but on different birds..:lmao: ykwim
Claire said they're only there for one day or something, I'd be out there with the net until I caught every one I possibly could!!

My assumption was that they gave up because they figured Desmond and Charlie would try and sabotage each attempt.

Although one thing that did bother me was a little story continuity. Charlie was supposed to die getting that last bird. But had the succeeded with the net, there wouldn't be a need to go hanging off the rocks to reach that last one, right? Unless Desmond really was hunting and didn't realize how close he was to the net and that truly was an accident. Since we don't know just how much he sees, if he only saw Charlie dying after that last bird perhaps he didn't see that he would be hunting and causing the first big failure that led to Charlie having to get that last bird. But that's pretty much a stretch and involves thinking quite a few steps ahead to get there. There really isn't anyhing in the episode indicating that's what happened.

I was thinking the same thing about the birds. Why wouldn't they try to catch as many as they could and attach notes to all of them?:confused3 It's makes for a very frustrating storyline. I really wish they hadn't even brought the birds up, because now all I think about is how stupid they were to try to catch only one bird and be okay with that.
