I have always kept my children's room keys for FOTL so they would not get lost. This year I hope they are old enough (and responsible enough) not to lose them. What happens if you lose a room key? Will they just issue you a new one or is there a charge?

There is no charge for replacing a room key.

don't ask how i know. it's my secret......:rolleyes1

whenever you find that you have lost a room key, contact the front desk of the hotel immediately. they will change the code for your room.
you will have to pick up new room key for the lost one. the codes on the other hotel cards for the rest of your party can be replaced. i have heard that some groups only had their code changed on the other cards replacing only the lost one. whatever the case was last year when i went might have been changed since then on the rest of the groups hotel cards.

the lost one will be reprinted, it takes only minutes.

if you are in the park and find out a hotel key is missing, and if you don't have a cell phone with you, go to guest services.

tell them and they will call for you.
you don't want to waste time of having the lost key still be valid.
your name and room number is on the key.

if you have charging rights on it, well......let's not go there.

if your kids wear lanyards with the enclosed plastic card holder, they might not lose it. have them keep the hotel key in the lanyard and just show it to the TM that checks the express lane for the rides and shows.

if they keep the hotel card in that all the time, it showed not be a problem of getting lost.
when on a roller coaster ride, have the lanyard tucked into their shirts/tops.

on dueling dragons, i have seen many lose their items that were in the pocket lanyards if it was hanging loose and not inside their tops.

if you are a worry wart like i am, keep all the hotel cards with you.

I don't think there is a charge for lost key. My son since age 4 has had his room key and AP pass on a lanyard and has never had a problem. He is almost 7 now. The thing is we do not put room charging on his card just mine an DW.

if no charging is allowed on the lost hotel card, then only the lost card will need to be replaced.

thought i should come back and make that more clear for you.

Sorry double post, stupid iPhone. LOL

I've found my kids keep track of that kind of stuff better with a lanyard with the plastic "badge" case attached. They keep their ticket and key card in it. So far (knock on wood) they haven't lost either their ticket or the room key.

i lost one of my kids once at MCO and once at the parks.

just thought i would throw in something totally unrelated to the question except for the "lost" part........:teeth:

Thanks for clearing that up. I guess this will be the year I give them a little responsibility. I don't think I will give them the park pass, though. I've got a feeling I would be shelling out another $100 per kid.
