Hi everyone, this has started out as the worse day yet. I HAD a reservation for the Poly in August at a wnderful rate of $201.00 per night. I thought hubby mailed deposit and didn't. So, when I called and tried to apply deposit towards reservation I was told it was cancelled out. I asked if it could be reserved again and after being put on hold for about 10 minutes I was told NO. I was given a rate of $283.00 per night w/ Disney Club rate. What I was told was that the rate of $201.00 was for anyone staying @ WDW during Christmas but, you had to have called while satying @ WDW resort and make reservation w/ code that was on door knob of hotel room. I don't know how I was given this rate since I called from home and never gave code for this but, $201.00 was as good as it could ever get. So, I plan on purchasing an AP in hopes of obtaining a better rate. However, must I purchase AP now or how does this work? Please help!

Thanks in advance!

Since no one has answered yet, I'll try. You don't have to have an AP in hand when you make your reservation, but they may ask for it at check-in. When AP rates for Aug. become available, call and make your reservation, or apply it to a current reservation. Then get a voucher at a disney store, that it traded for an AP at a park or TTC. I think they'll even let you check in with your voucher, and just show them the actual AP when you get it at the park or TTC. The annual pass isn't activated until you use it that way.

I wish you well with getting an AP room at Polynesian; my husband and I haven't had much luck in that area. We do love the Deluxe resorts but this year we just couldn't do it - it turned out that we were able to get the $129 a night at the Dolphin. If the Polynesian rate doesn't pan out, you should look into it. We usually stay at the Grand Floridian, Contemporary or Caribbean Beach and have been spoiled by the Deluxe resort's accomodations, amenities and the frills. We decided to give Dolphin (which is also considered Deluxe) a chance - it is located right next to Disney's Yacht and Beach Club and you can use the disney transportation and take advantage of early entry. If you are not eligible for the $129 a night rate, you can obtain an Entertainment book and get the $172.00 a night rate. Otherwise, just be persistent and call almost every week looking for an AP rate; I would assume that since the March AP rate just came out, the rates for August would most likely come out in June. Good luck!!!
