I wasn't sure about posting this, but after thinking about it (now that some time has past since we got home earlier this week), I decided that I wanted to share this story.

While walking up Hollywood Blvd at DHS, I turned to say something to my wife. Just as I turned my head, I saw a lady behind us drop what looked like a credit card on the ground. I started waving frantically at her, pointing at the ground, and saying "you dropped something."

She probably couldn't hear me with a mask on, and maybe thought I was just some crazy person flailing my arms around. I rushed over and picked it up off the ground. I turned to try and catch her to return it, but she was already lost in the crowd. Then I turned it over and realized it was a military ID card! I turned it in to the nearest CM and explained that I saw someone drop it, but didn't see where she went. Hopefully, she realized it was missing and got it back from Lost & Found.

Fast forward to the end of the week... my heart stopped as I realized that my wallet was missing from my pocket. I've traveled in a lot of big cities around the world and I'm extremely vigilant about my surroundings and constantly being aware of my wallet, so I thought it was highly unlikely that I'd been pick-pocketed at WDW, but I didn't discount the possibility.

It quickly occurred to me that I had used the restroom a little while before I realized it was gone (probably about 15 minutes earlier, 20 max). I figured it probably fell out in the bathroom, so I went there to look on the off chance that it had fallen behind the commode and might still be there. It wasn't there, so I found a CM outside the restroom and explained the situation. He took my name and I gave him a description of the wallet and the contents.

He called up to check with the Lost & Found and within about a minute or two, he let me know that they did have my wallet (my ID was still in it, so they knew it was mine, not just one generally matching the description I gave) at guest services at the front of the park!

When I got there and retrieved it, nothing was missing!

Ironically, I had very little of monetary value in it... I only had $2 in cash and a few credit/debit cards (that I would have called and cancelled within the next 30 minutes if it didn't turn up) and a Panera Bread rewards card (so I guess someone could have gotten a free scone out of the deal).

I did have an AP in there (not Disney), but I suspect I would have been able to get it voided and get a replacement for a nominal fee. So the biggest concern I really had was just the headache of having to get my drivers license, ID, etc. replaced and quickly cancelling the credit cards and waiting for replacements (in the meantime, we could still access our account with my wife's card).

My sister-in-law said that it was good karma paying me back for trying to help that lady earlier in the week (I do hope she got her ID card back after I turned it in). Despite the fact that I wouldn't have been out any significant money, it would have been a lot of stress and hassle during our vacation. I was extremely thankful that there are still honest people in this world!

To the guest or CM that turned it in, THANK YOU!
