Lost My Baby Dog Last Night

You have all been so supportive when things like this happen, I just didn't know where else to go. Last night my six and half year old Cocker Spaniel, Lucky died from dog influenza. It happened so fast I still can't believe he is gone. I noticed Tuesday night he wasn't himself so I took him to the vet Wed morning, gave him shots and medication and the vet thought he would be ok, he worsened over the night and went back to the vet yesterday morning. His conestion was worse but the vet thought we would be ok ...last night he was breathing better and I was feeling better about it, then around seven he went to sleep and didn't wake up....now I am so lost I don't know what to do. Thanks for just letting me get this out........

I am so sorry this happened to you. I know how you are feeling and it's the worst feeling in the world. I truly am sorry.

Thank you all so much, your kind words mean alot, yes, this is the influenza we heard about in the fall. Only five percent die from this, but my Lucky had thyroid problems and was on daily meds for this. While not a big deal, it also means his immune system was not as strong. I know my vet did everything he could, he just called me to see if I was ok. He was fine three days ago, it just doesn't seem real.
