SPREAD THE WORD! Relatively new site & already 10 success stories.

I DID find a camera this May at MGM-DHS. I was sitting on a bench watching TOT windows and enjoying a Mickey bar. There already was a woman sitting on the bench when I sat down and she was talking with some other people standing nearby and passing a cell phone back and forth to talk with an uncle. Shortly thereafter they wandered off to RnR.

I finished the ice cream and looked around for a trash can and saw the camera on the bench. I waited a few minutes hoping one of them would return. None of them returned and I wanted to move on and do more sights. I picked up the camera and took it to the Crocs cart just down the street where their were 2 CMs. I explained where it was found and described the group. One CM took it immediately to the front of the park.

Since at least MK, EPCOT and DHS have photo stores, how great it would be if Disney would give the (digital) cameras a temp ID#, check the (digital) cameras and post at least one 'family' photo on a screen in the shop with the corresponding ID. Hopefully would help reunite people with their lost images.

I have ID tags on my cameras. But so many people don't.

You said you have ID tags on your cameras. What type or how do most people ID their photography equipment? When we go to Disney our family has about 3 maybe 4 camera floating around the parks and then along with my camera I have other accessories with me. So just was curious to see what others may do.

I think a way to ID equipment and images would be a good idea. :thumbsup2

Well I believe some people have their expensive cameras engraved with their cell phone # and name.

My cameras are not cheap nor extravagantly expensive. But the SD cards inside are priceless. Some time ago I bought small lightweight plastic Disney ID tags that allow me to slide a slip of paper inside under the window. Mine reads property of (first initial) (last name), cell # (complete number).

I use the cell # and not home # as afterall I am traveling with the cameras.
The ID tags have a key ring that slipped right onto each camera's strap ring. So they attach to the camera, not the strap.

Isn't it so worth it to ID your camera!!!!!

Great Idea! Too bad if someone found my DSLR, it mostly would be at the nearest pawn shop. I like the tag idea, I'm going out looking for tags now...hehehe

Hey fellow Marylander,

You could always print your info, cut it the size you need, and run over to Kinko's to get it laminated. Have them punch a hole in the corner and put it on a key chain ring. We always have key chain rings laying around in a desk drawer it seems.

....and no matter what camera we found, we would turn it in. As a matter of fact I looked that one over to see if it had a cell # on it cause I would've called them right then.

I bought a luggage tag to attach to my camera bag and envelope address labels on each piece of equipment.

You can get some good deals on camera stuff at pawn shops:thumbsup2 and its not all stolen.

This was just on the news the other night about pawn shops and stolen property and they (the pawnshop) said its hard for them cause so many people dont write down the serial numbers of their gear that even when it does get sold they have no way to check if it was reported.
The pawnshops have a program with the police that every evening the days purchases goes into a database along with the sellers thumbprint and the police cross reference it with stolen goods.
That is how they just solved a case with about 100 cars involved, the crooks brought in a camera and the owner had turned it in as stolen with serial and that was all she wrote for them.

Now not all cities in Fl have this program but I wish they did. Also some of the bigger chain type pawnshops move items from store to store around the US like orlando has to many cameras they may send them to Jacksonville where the Navy guys are who buy alot of cameras. So if you do get something stolen dont just look local but let the chain store pawnshops know also so they can check their other locations.

Im working on documenting ALL my camera stuff for insurance purposes and man I never realized how much I had and how little of it I really had written down.

After reading this Im thinking a laminated 3x5 card with my serials for the stuff I take out the most might be something good to keep in the car, cause when Im in Disney I not going to know what the heck my serial number is for my camera off hand and the longer I delay the farther my stuff may move out.
