Lost child aide

How about something really simple which requires no extra effort? Just take the luggage tag off your suitcase that has your name, address and (cell) phone number on it already and attach it to a belt loop.

Also, every morning take a picture of your child with either your camera or cell phone. That way you can accurately describe what they are wearing to a CM if you become separated.

Luggage tags usually have your home address on them, don't they? Doesn't seem like a great idea...

Experts recommend you don't put your home address on your luggage tag. Mine has my office address and cell phone number.

If you have your home address on them, you should turn the card so its not readily apparent to somebody casually looking at your luggage.

Having your cell number on your luggage tag is what is important. Not just for lost children. That way who ever finds what its attached to can call you, not a potentially empty house.

i made my son three different ID bracelets for our May disney trip. I took material like a backpack strap type, a thick soft elastic, and a military name tape .. with each different "band" i took a piece of clear vinyl and wrote my number on a piece of paper, stuck it in the vinyl then sewed that onto the band. I made three of them because I'm not sure yet if they will be water proof LOL!!

there are websites that sell them.. google childs id bracelets..:thumbsup2

Ive found keeping an eye on your children usually works.. Lol..

I got lucky. I WAS keeping my eye on my 3 YO dd waaaay back when. So I SAW her when my family group of 14 people, crossed through another group going in a direction 90 degrees differently than we were headed. dd was holding hands with DH, and let go to reach up and hold her grandmother's hand. Except in the jostling between the 2 groups passing each other, dd missed the hand she aimed for so she grabbed onto a jacket. She kept trotting along, happily. Except it was a STRANGERS jacket!

I immediately turned, and side stepped around people, jostled a few, and actually RAN to catch up with my dd.! She had NO idea she wasn't with us! The other group was horrified when they realized they had someone elses child with them. Both groups were moving a a nice clip. My family eventually stopped and realized the 2 of us were missing but had no clue where, why or how we were separated.

I saw exactly what happened, or else I would have found it hard to believe that she wasn't snatched somehow when she ended up squarely in the midst of the other group.

It happens. If I'd blinked, I'd have missed it. Thats why I used engravable dog tags and sticky address labels on clothes ever since.

While preplanning is always a great idea, it isnt completely neccesary to purchase something or go out of your way. Here at Magic Kingdom our Guest Relations team has decorative mickey head tags that have Mickey's face on one side and a place for your information on the other. Best of all they are free and all the CMs know to look for them.

Best advice is to tell your children to find someone wearing a name tag, not someone in costume since management wears regular clothes and our costumes vary from location to location. We are happy to talk to your child when you first enter the park as well to show them what our name tages look like and to reinstill this message. Additionally, we have designated locations in each park where we take children and families when seperated and typically can reunite them within a few minutes so long as the adult guest allows us to take the lead and doesnt panic.

As for those with non-visable handicaps; clothing, jewelry, or those tattoos are a great way to let us know how to treat them!

thank you so much for the information..I agree with telling kids to look for a name tag..I have been telling that to my son for years..if he ever gets lost from me (zoo, store) go up to someone who has a name tag on..It's very easy for kids to remember. Thanks again!

We're getting the silicone bracelets for DD to wear to the local museum & WDW. She loves wearing bracelets so we shouldn't have trouble getting her to keep one on. Some companies make toddler sizes so they better fit little wrists.

We lost my 3 year old at Dineyland, We had written on his arm our names and cell phone. It took 15 minutes to find, some girls noticed him wandering around. I asked them how they found him and knew his name. Hoping he had shown them our info I had written on his arm. They told me he would'nt say anything but he was wearing a disney ear hat that I had embroidered with his name on it.
