Lost a ticket last month--can't believe I forgot to post this...

I can't believe I forgot to tell everyone this story. On the first day of the vacation DH lost one of our 7 park hopper plus passes. Out of 17 trips to WDW this was the first time this had happened to us. It was also the first time DH had carried the passes. We went to Guest Services at Epcot and the CM ( an older gent. who had worked there for years) was totally blown away that I had photocopied the back of each of our tickets and glued each copy onto a page of my little, tiny spiral notebook. He told my DH that I had saved the day because they are not responsible to replace lost or stolen passes. DH told him that I always made those copies and we had never needed them before. The guy said that it only takes one time. He told DH he needed to thank me for being so organized. I know many of you make copies, as well. Just know that it really may pay off some day!

WOW I'm glad you copied them! I guess that should be a lesson to us all. I can see a copy machine in my AP's future. :)

It's not as important when you have activated AP's. You will already be in their system so if you lose the AP, you just give your name, show a picture ID and they will replace your AP easily.

If you only have AP vouchers, you are not yet in the computer and it is wise to either copy the back or if you purchased them at TDS, carry the 2nd receipt with the ticket numbers.

WOW....I thought I was thorough! I never even thought to copy our passes. We make copies of passports, etc. on trips all the time, just in case. What a great idea!

GREAT IDEA THOUGH...I'M GOING TO DO THIS AS WELL...BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY!

I left my PAP in one of the FP machines a couple of years ago. Thankfully, the AP's and PAP's are in WDW's system so all I had to do was go to Guest Services and they issued me another one. Talk about a sinking feeling! When I discovered that the pass was lost, I freaked.

I always bring a copy of our passes with us too. You are absolutly correct, it only takes one time to pay off! Glad you had a happy ending!

It is my biggest fear, so I bring a copy and leave one home with a family member that I can always call.

Glad your stoty had a happy ending,
Sandy

so, will you ever let your hubby be in charge of such a prize possesion again? :) my passes stay with me just for that reason--things always seem to get lost with my husband in charge.

Glad to hear everything worked out....I get nervous every time DH has control of the pass (usually just of a short time..to get FP or something)....We have a system...you go through the turnstill step a few steps out of the way and turn and wait for mom to take your pass back.....

What a great idea to copy the passes! I'll do this for our October trip!

I lost a ticket to MVMCP last year.

The CM at guest services bent over backwards and was able to obtain my ticket information from his computer and print me a new one. So while the copies help if you buy directly from Disney and have some information sometimes they can help you.

With APs it is no problem I am on my third one this year! I just go to Guest Services and give them my ID, they give me a new one.

Belle - so what do they do - cancel the lost one so no one can use it and issue another?

If you really had not made the photocopy Disney would not have helped you and you would have to buy another pass?

Great tip - thanx.

Maybe the guest services guy was just trying to make a point --but he made it sound like they would not have replaced our lost pass. He told me that our ticket numbers were so out of order (bought some at the Disney store at different times and some through Paramount Travel) that he would never have been able to find them in the system anyway!

I never worried when we had AP's, either.

zurgswife--the fast pass machine is where we really do think we lost it. You can't be too careful at those machines! Check and double check before you walk away! (We usually have two fastpass machines going so we can get 7 passes quickly. Certainly makes for more confusion!)

maps--that should be the last time DH carries the passes. The only reason he did it this time was because the waist pack I usually carry them in was too tight for my pregnant belly! He had to carry everything this time!

Another thing, if you purchase your ticket from The Disney Store, please hold onto the separate receipt you are handed by the castmember and put it in a separate place from your tickets (if you are not given the receipt by the CM, then please ask for it and make sure that you get it). It lists the numbers on your tickets, so they can be tracked. If you loose your ticket, take that receipt to guest relations and they can stop admission with the lost or stolen ticket and reissue you a new one.

It does state that WDW is not liable for lost or stolen passes right on the back of the passes, so without proof of purchase and the number from the back of the ticket, there really is little they can do. Can you imagine all of the people who would possibly claim to have lost a ticket? None of here, of course, but yes, there are those who would and Disney does need to protect themselves from that type of scam.

I am glad that it all worked out well for you, and that you enjoyed your vacation. I don't blame you for not letting your husband carry the passes anymore, though!:)

>>^..^<<,
Yes, they cancelled the pass that was lost and reissued a new pass with a new number.

I will definitely be doing that this trip. A trip back in 2000, I must not have closed my backpack very well and my wallet must have fallen out (it was night in Epcot) and I had cash and passes and checked immediately with guest services (crying hysterically) after back tracking my steps. We went to lost and found. I was in tears for days! My daughter said this was the least magical trip of all (other bad luck things happened before this). No one ever turned it in and I had to buy us all new passes (luckily, we only had one more day of our vacation). I was carrying extra passes for some reason. Whoever found it found a jackpot. :( It never occurred to me to make copies back then.

I am the mom and I used to carry all the passes. Now, my DH carries the boys and I carry the girls since that's usually how we split up in the parks.

I also don't put my passes in my backpack. I carry it in my small purse that I wear constantly or in a fanny pack. And I carry the least amount of valuables. We have the room charges on our key, so I don't carry any credit cards in the parks either.
