We never had any money to lose. No retirement, no savings, no 401K, we even have crappy health care. But I can honestly say we've never been happier! 
I'm so grateful for what we do have, 2 wonderful kids, a loving extended family, good health, many incredible friends, a great marriage, I could go on and on. Above all those things though is our faith in Jesus that he is the son of God and he died for our sins. I trust that God will provide us with what we need, it may not be what we want, but it will be what we need and for that I'm eternally grateful.
