She will be with her grandchildren during Christmas....SHE WILL ENJOY immensely!

I can be of no help to you with this, however may I suggest the Disability boards here on the Disboards! They can help you with any of your needs. Here is the link!

(oops - had to remove the link. the message would not post with it in there)

Good luck and have a great trip! :earsboy:
OK - thanks - I will look at that.

HOWEVER - if she ever hears of me using the word "disabled" around her, I will be the next one needing 'disabled' assistance. (As in having my rear end in a sling.)

She suffers from macular degeneration. He central vision is pretty much gone. She can make out shapes but cannot recognize anyone if they are more than ten or twelve feet away. She recognizes people by gross shapes and their mannerisms more than by visual acuity. I am always concerned that she might not enjoy a "sight seeing" situation that is unfamilar to her.

Thanks for the link.

My almost 23 year old DD "disappeared" on one trip when she was 5 years old. Looking back, we laugh about it but at the time, we were panicked.

The character caravan had just arrived in Epcot. It was pretty chaotic. Our 3 kids never, ever wandered but in a split second DD was gone. DH and I each grabbed a kid and starting looking for her. Lo and behold, there she was on the line for Minnie Mouse. Minnie was her fave character and she wanted to see her. She had no clue that she was "missing." :teeth:

I know how you feel..My 2 1/2 yo DS...I let him go up the slide in Legoland in DTD while my husband went to get ice cream. I swear I did not take my eyes off the slide for a second. After a few minutes he was not coming out. At just about that time, my DH came back and started "flipping out" on how I could ever let him go up there by himself. We thought maybe the bigger kids were just pushing ahead of him. Although, there's only one way up and one way down, you cannot really see the top. (It's sort of enclosed). I was on the slide ready to climb up to check when my DH saw him walking back around to go for another round. Be careful, everyone!! Don't make my mistake.
Also, just as a side note, I wish there was only one opening/entrance to Legoland. Don't get me wrong, I realize that no one but the parents are responsible for watching their child, it would just be a nice feature. I will never let my son play there again unless I am at one opening and my husband the other.

That's how I feel about the play area in toon town. It's horrible!!! There are so many entrances. Last year when DD was 20 months and too little to go on goofy coaster w/ DH and DS, me and her went in there to play and I swear I lost sight of her about 10 times in 5 minutes. I just kept looking at all the exits and thinking about how unsafe it was. After about 10 minutes I snatched her up and decided to go find a safer place to hang out while we waited. Mosdt of the parents in the play area seemed fine with it, which I couldn't believe because it was soooo crowded and would've been very easy for a predator to snatch a kid, but I remember there was one guy there cursing like crazy about the way the place was set up. He was not happy either! You would think at a place like WDW they could design things with a little more security in mind for the little ones! Just my 2 cents...
