Losing weight for our weddings!! See new thread.

I got lucky with the losing weight thing. I wanted to lose 10 lbs. Well, I'm a theatrical lighting technician, and I'm doing a theatre festival this summer that ends two weeks before my wedding. I have 16 hour shifts and run up and down 8 flights of stairs at least 10 times a day, usually carrying 25lbs worth of lights or cable. I've actually lost so much weight my clothes are too loose to fit!

I started out at 210 lbs. I am now down to 174 and I'd like to be at 135 before my wedding day. :)

hi guys .......im in shock im now down to 10st 9lb  i havnt done any dieting really as we have had a few bbqs coz of the weather and a few drinks ..im still doing a lot of walking !

how are you guys doing ?

Well done craigs bride! That's fantastic!! How much have you lost altogether?

I have my weigh in tomorrow, so I'll see how I've done!

hi Eeyore, i weighed 12st 5lb in january after i had my son so from then i've lost just over a stone and half .:cheer2:
good luck for your weigh !:thumbsup2

Where is everyone??

Well I started Jenny Craig on Wednesay. I won't be on it long, but just to kick start my routine and help me drop some more weight. My first weigh in is Wednesday. I have been doing pretty good...except for last night. I was starving and ended up eating like 3 tablespoons of whipped cream!! Then I ate 2 slices of bread with peanut butter and banana:sad2:

This morning I am back on track though! Just finished a 10 minute ab workout and a 10 minute hip-hop dance!:cool1:

May I join in, or is it too late?

I am highly frustrated because I have been working out for the past 2 and a half weeks (I haven't worked out in probably about 4-5 years) and I have been dieting (I used to do weight watchers, which worked slowly but surely, but I couldn't afford it anymore and was terrible at using the websites to track, so I am basically using a combination of what I learned from that and also counting calories, eating healthier foods, drinking lots of water, drinking less beer, making sure I don't eat directly before bed) and so far I have just maintained my weight. I bought a mini trampoline and 2lb weights, so I have been doing exercises and jogging on the trampoline, then doing regular crunches and sideways crunches almost everyday, for about 20-30min each day. The only thing I have noticed is my arms seem a bit more muscular. My wedding is in April, and I want to lose 15lbs, bringing me to 110lbs from 125lbs. I have time, but I want to lose at least half of that before I go dress shopping because I am "thick" as people have told me, and I don't want to try on a dress when I am heavier out of fear that I may not like it later on, plus I wouldn't want to rule out dresses than may not be flattering to my figure at this point.

Any suggestions on anything I can do to lose weight quicker?

I would say not to worry to much about the scale.

I have been on weight watchers for a month, and have been working out quite a bit, and haven't lost much weight. When I went to the doctor for my physical, I mentioned this, and she said that people don't realize you often gain weight from muscle. So i just keep taking measurements, and I have noticed that I have changed by doing this, instead of the scale :goodvibes

One tip I can give though. I worked at a fruit stand one summer during my undergrad. I lost all my "freshman 15 weight" and the only thing I was doing differently was eating a ton of fruit (I had just turned 19, which is our drinking age, and was drinking sooo much, and STILL lost weight). I really beleive increasing fiber is a key to weightloss :thumbsup2

Hope that helps!!

PS. LADIES....we NEED to keep this up...let's make sure to keep inspiring each other!!!

i said to my partner the other day about this i had done 3 days of really hard walking and still dieting and my weight didnt shift at all ...he told me it takes about 3 days for the weight to shift after exercise . it did !!!

you dont want to lose weight quickly otherwise you will pile it back on quicker ,you seem to be doing ok just keep at it and im sure you will notice the weight coming of soon ..dont make the mistake of giving in though IT WILL COME OFF !!

keep up the good work and congratulations on your forth coming wedding :lovestruc

I'm in the same boat girls. I had my first weigh in last night and gained 2 lbs!! This is the list my consultant gave me as to why I gained:

I have my period
I ate chinese food the night before my weigh in (too much salt)
I drank too much water the day of my weigh in (Trying to flush out the salt)

UGH!! I worked out 4 days last week and with the exception of the chinese food and a few glasses of wine (spread out over the week) I stuck to my plan!

She said to drink more water to keep flushing out my system and weigh myself again on Friday.

I agree if we are working out we may be losing fat and building muscle. But it's still a bit discouraging!

It's entirely frustrating and you really feel like giving in when NOTHING comes off, not even an ounce! I think my scale is broken! And if not, I will probably break it myself from being so angry at it! :rotfl:

When I was 16, I was a few lbs heavier than I am now. I started dieting and working out doing only crunches and an exercise bike about 5 days a week, and I lost weight VERY quickly. I used to lose weight SO fast, when I was 18 I went from 112lbs to 103lbs in about 2 months just from dieting with very little exercise. So now that I am cutting back on all the excess food I used to consume and exercising religiously almost every day and I see nothing happening, I am VERY discouraged that I weigh the same as I did when I NEVER worked out, had big meals right before bed, a glass of wine or beer every night, lots of fast food, and snacks throughout the day. :headache: I need to buy a tape measure so I can see if I am losing inches, or perhaps take photos of myself and see if there's a difference as I progress. :lmao:

Sorry for my ranting!

Boardwalkbride, I will definitely try the fruit thing. I have a hard time, though, because I'd much rather a 100 calorie chocolate cookie pack to an apple. :rotfl2:

Craigsbride, I will definitely keep trying and thank you! Congrats to you as well! ;)

So what kind of diet plans/exercises regimes are you ladies on? Perhaps I need to be doing something differently to get me going.

Oh trust me, I feel your rant!

Since highschool, I have gained more than 50lbs!!! In highschool I was an athlete though, that went to university, became addicted to parties, graduate, got a job at a computer and now am back in graduate school :scared1: It's soooo hard! The thing is, well what my doctor said, is our metabolism is not the same as it was when we were younger. She said high fiber diet (which weight watchers promotes, which I am on) and adding a lot of weights into your workout!

I think you said you have a mini-tramp. I have one as well. She suggested coming up with a routine. So warm up jogging (5 minutes) than get off and do 1-2mins of pushups, than back on the tramp with jumping jacks, than off for sit ups, etc. She basically said jogging alone on the trampoline won't to too much for weightloss alone.

If you have some spare cash, by some of the biggest loser videos. I consider myself to be relatively in shape, and I am exhausted and sweating by the end of those!!

Maybe the jogging thing is it. I read somewhere that jogging on a trampoline for 20min is equivalent to running 3 miles, so for the first week and a half, I jogged A LOT on that thing! I have a routine that I've been doing for the past week that I took most of from the video that came with the trampoline, and it really gets me sweating and gets my heart rate up. I actually was close to buying one of those dvds, but I HATE workout videos and would much rather watch a tv show or a movie while I workout. :cool1: I think I will take your advice though and switch up my routine a little. :thumbsup2

Hi all........

Sorry - I have been such a bad chart keeper! It was just so annoying having to make them, then turn it into an image and upload. So I might try and find an easier way to keep track of everything!

Urgh, I have eaten like a pig for the last few weeks. My WW goal will now be completely unnattainable and i've got no one to blame but myself.

I have started the Special K diet today though, so I'm going to do that for the next two weeks. Then I might do WW core plan for two, then back to special K for two, then WW again back up until the holiday.

I know it sounds funny, but I think it was finding my dress, and looking good in it that kind of made me lose heart with the weight loss.

Now I jsut look at Jack and his lovely body and nice clothes and have to keep saying sorry to him for being engaged to such a lump! He of course doesn;t understand what I'm talkign about, but I don't want to be one of those couples where people look at us and think "why is he with her?!" :sad2:

So far today I've had my breakfast bowl of Special K, my lunch bowl of it, and some strawberries and some cherries, and I've actually not felt that hungry at all!

Tonight we have salmon, new potatoes and vegetables. Nummmmmmm!

It's ok to fall off the wagon! And know you have support here! :grouphug:

I want to try the Special K diet, I have heard great things about it. And your dinner sounds really yummy! ;)
