I see that a lot of you do Wii Fit. Has anyone bought the Dance Revolution game for Wii Fit? Is it worth it? Is it expensive?

Food wise I'm doing good. When I eat food I really want, for example cake, I am trying to just eat less of it than I normally would. I'm trying to do half-portions. Then again, there are just some foods I have to ignore altogether--Weight Watchers called them "trigger foods"!

Hello Ladies,

Great job to everyone on the weight loss and resisting bad food. :cheer2:

I was the second person to post on this wonderful thread and I mentioned that I had lost 68 pounds on weight watchers. Well I don't think I mentioned that I had put back on 13 pounds and am working to get it off again before it all comes back. :scared1:

I truly believe that losing weight is a mind game. If I am having a good day I will stick to eating healthy and working out...if I am having a stressful day, that is when I want to grab a doughnut or some candy and crawl into bed. I try to exercise in the morning before work. It is hard but I have noticed that the days I exercise in the morning, I have a much better day and I am in a much better mood which allows me to deal with the stress when it comes up. The days I do not exercise I lose my patience more and I am cranky. Exercise helps so much so try to do it as much as you can.

I also believe that planning is the key. Every week I plan out what we are going to have for dinner for the week and what foods I will need to bring to work with me and what snacks I will need. I go food shopping and try to have everything I need for the week so I am not stuck grabbing something "fast" and bad for us.

I also try to give myself a goal every week. For a while I was not eating as well and not exercising as much...the result was gaining back 13 pounds. This week my goal was to exercise 4 days this week. I even planned out which days I would workout and which exercises I will do. It is Tuesday and I have already worked out twice this week. Tomorrow morning and Thursday morning I will workout to complete my goal for the week.

Anyway...sorry for rambling on so much. I think this thread is great as we could all use the support. :grouphug: Now I need a support group to help me get my house organized. It is such a mess and I need a lot of help in that area. :laundy:

If I eat anything after 9pm it will trigger me to eat all night.
I would love dance revolution. If any has it please let us know what it's like.

:goodvibesHey Ladies: Wow made it through another day. I did very well today. I even managed to get some exercise in. I am lucky I have 3 sets of stairs in my house and though I have never counted I must go up and down about 100 times a day!!! Lisa I will try different snacks. A big problem for me is carbs. I love my carbs. Especially cereal and I mean the yummy sweet stuff. Thank goodness for me Leam Cuisine has come out with new pasta meals that I really like.

Mrs. Grumpy Congrats on your weight loss :thumbsup2. Keep up the good work. It is worth it.

Congradulations on your weight loss!

I agree with you stress makes me want to eat all kinds of things that I know are bad for me. I also find when I am really tired and don't get enough sleep I want to eat sweets and high fat foods.

Love the comment on house organization, I need a support group for that too! :lmao:

I love Lean Cuisine meals. They are really good for helping teach portion control which I lack :lmao:

Congradulations on a good day!

Well ladies,

I had a good day today. I kept my calories in check and drank plenty of water. I think that I am going to start a food diary, that will help me keep track of everything better. Do any of you do this? If so dose it help?

I have tried DDR at the mall in the arcade before, I am horrible at it (hides my head in shame)

I hope your toes feel better!

Lisa- I am very impressed with your dancing. If you are dancing like that it should be helping you shed some lbs. If your still not losing you may want to get your thyroid checked. I have a friend who danced like crazy and could not lose and it turned out to be her thyroid. Also thanks for the heads up on the Dance revolution.

Well its a new day tomorrow. We can do it!

Actually I have danced since I was 3 and thanks for the nice comments. I have had my thyroid checked and its fine the problem for me is I have a issue with fast food and I actually only have dance for 2 hrs ever Tuesday. And before I went back to taking I only teach and as a teacher all my activity was limited so I put more and more weight on I know how to lose it just don't have that "go do it" drive!

Okay here's why I am kinda ERK'ed is the best word or just plain:mad: mad!

Okay so every Tuesday I have to take my DD to dance and I also have dance class with a bunch of high schoolers (I am the oldest out of 7 kids ranging form 14-22 I am 25).. Well tonight like every 1st tuesday was Pointe/Ballet night my very absolute favorite till the teacher says Lisa you teach tonight I twisted my ankle can't dance... Lovely ... I am too fat to teach thats why I stand in the back and just go with the flow. (Mind ya I hold my own) So I begin to strech our feet and then we put on our shoes...
Okay I have taken pointe for over 10 yrs and I wear my shoes one way well apparently for 10 yrs I have done it wrong according to some twig 17 yr old who decided if I can't tie my own pointe shoe apparently I can't teach her either. And so she began to talk during the entire class so what do I do... I yell over her and then I would comment on her converstation like " oh no he didn't" came out of my mouth LOL

Long story short my nervous are shot my head hurts and I have 4 bleeding toes :headache:

On the note of losing weight did very well today on top of having dance today I played with DD (4) on our trampoline (me plus trampoline plus gravity :lmao:HILARIOUS:lmao:) it came form the Easter bunny early!

Oh and for lunch I fixed them tacos and instead of having th greasy meat kind we had ground lean turkey for meat  and for dinner i hit McDonalds

BUT I had a Grilled Chicken sandwich with only a tomatoe on it no mayo... and I didn't eat the fries instead I order a side salad too (not their dressing used a Low Fat Vinegrete I had here)
:woohoo:GO ME:woohoo:

And to all of you :cool1: way to go! :thumbsup2 On a successful day and if you cheated :confused3 that's okay too!

Well Love to you all :grouphug:

You guys are my heroes! You kinds words have inspired me to keep trying. I am down to just over a month until my next trip to the world but you know, I will lose what I will and keep on trying. :) It's not like I have to stop trying when that trip is over; there will be others :goodvibes
Tomorrw is a new day with a fresh start. I have two goals for that day: drink more water and journal my food. Those two things are key forme and they are the first tewo things I drop when things start going downhill.

Ya'll have a great night and a good day tomorrow. I will be thinking of you. :grouphug:

It's not just ladies that are trying to drop some weight. I put on about 15 lbs after some emotional upheaval last year and finally decided enough-was-enough. I'm not specifically planning on losing weight for vacation but the trip comes at a good time to serve as a barometer.

Of course, guys have different body-image issues than women do :cool2:

Extremely good advice here. :worship:

I think the best thing for me so far is measuring success in many ways. Lots of people simply measure with the scale. If the scale doesn't budge they get depressed "I did all this hard work and nothing to show for it!" and go off their plan. While I'm looking at the scale, I have one that shows body fat percentage and I note that. I also have measured various body parts and note how they change week-to-week. I also keep track of how my workouts go.

Overall, as long as I'm making progress somewhere, I'm making progress. Last week, my weight was higher than when I started working out and watching my diet almost two months ago. But the body fat reading is a lot lower, wearing pants a size smaller and I've added 20 - 30 lbs to most of my lifts since I started lifting weights again. Had I just been watching the scale, I would not have been a happy camper. But the other measurements showed that lots of progress has been made in the direction I want to go.

I'm back at the point of liking going to the gym which is a huge help. I have short-term (6 mo) and medium-term (12-18 mo) goals and when I see weekly progress, it's a lot easier to see progress toward those longer-term goals.

I am using a website called Setting Captives Free that is 60 online bible based lessons on losing weight. It's hard hitting truths and I began at 169 and I now weigh 157. So it does work and best of all it's free!!!

I'm only fun size--5'2" so I can't carry much extra weight very well! I'd like to loose another 10 by our vacation and I know that I would do better if I had support from like minded Dis-ers!

Let's go girls!:cheer2:

I love that "fun size". I'm 5'2" also and I saw a T-shirt at Kohl's the other day that says " I'm not short I'm fun size"

I had to have it

Not rambling at all! I can so relate! You seem very goal oriented which I think is very important for success! What are you doing for exercise in the morning? I need some ideas!

I do most of my workouts at home. I have a channel called FitTV and there is an instructor that is AWESOME! Her name is Cathe Friedrich. The workouts are so hard but so good. I DVR a whole bunch of her workouts and I choose what I want to do out of them. The show is an hour but they have commercials so I FF through them while moving my feet the whole time. I count it as a 45 min. workout. She has a lot of step aerobic workouts and if you like dancing you will like her step routines. The coreogrophy is hard and takes a few times to really learn the steps but that is the fun part for me. It makes me feel like I am in a dance class again...sort of. She has a kickboxing workout, interval workouts, boot camp workouts, then she has a whole bunch of workouts with lifting weights. I don't really do the ones that are only weights. I do the ones that have cardio and weights since I love the cardio but I am thinking of taking one day a week to do just weights. She is an instructor for people who want an advanced workout so you may have to work up to using her but if you want to check out her website it is

www.cathe.com

There is another set of workouts I like to do on FitTV. The series is called All Star Workouts and there are different instructors for all different types of workouts. I like one called Cardio boot Camp and the instructor is Kendal Hogan. I think he is very good and very motivating and the steps are easier to follow if you are just starting out. There is also a step routine in the All Star Workouts called Non Stop Step and the instructor is Patrick, I think his last name starts with a G. Anyway...it is a really good step routine and although it is not easy...it is not as hard as the Cathe Friedrich workouts so it is better to start with.

This morning I am going to do the boot camp workout from Cathe Friedrich and tomorrow I will do a step routine from her called Step Blast.

I also have a gym membership but I hardly ever go. The gym is Planet Fitness and it is only $10.00 a month but it is pretty far away and it just takes too long. I would rather workout at home and be done in 45 min.

Oh...I have another workout that is good for people who have a treadmill or want to start running. It is a program online called couch to 5K. It takes people who have not worked out at all and gradually works your way up to being able to run a 5K. The website is called.

www.coolrunning.com

Hope this helps,

Loralie

Hi Lisa,

Sorry about your toes. I am 39 years old and I used to dance when I was a child until I was 18 and then I gave it up because I felt I was getting too old. I did not want to be the oldest one in the class. I think it is awesome that you are still taking dance classes. I wish I was taking them now.

Good job on the trampoline and making good choices at McDonalds.

I agree that you have to measure success in other ways...not just the scale. We also have to realize that we have to continue after we hit our goal. Once we stop watching what we eat and exercising, the weight will come back. We will be doing this forever so it does not matter how long it takes. As long as we do not give up we will succeed.

Keep up the great work,

Loralie

As you guys can tell...I don't know how to multi-quote. Can someone help?

TIA,

Loralie
