Losing my excitement....

This has nothing to do with FP+.

In general, I am just losing excitement over our upcoming trip.

I am a hardcore planner and have all my ADRs, FP times, and general plans outlined in a spreadsheet. I have jotted down notes on the pictures I want to take and suggested settings for my DSLR. And now I am just EXHAUSTED by the whole process and realizing that the actual trip can never live up to expectations. I think I have too much planned and not enough days scheduled! It's like I am experiencing the post-Disney letdown before the trip even starts. :sad1:

So now that I am done whining (because really, there are MUCH worse problems to have than not enough vacation days at Disney :goodvibes), guess I better pull out my packing list and get busy. Only 14 days to go!

I feel sure that you will find your excitement again in 14 days! Have a wonderful vacation.

You sound like an epic planner. I wish I had your strength of will to sit down and actually write everything that I want to do down...

FWIW, I always go through that. We always have our trips a year in advance and for months I'm planning and planning and then usually about a month or so out, I just lose the excitement. But, it always comes back about a week before! :dance3:

I feel like the very same thing happens to me.
I get all excited in the planning stages, and then (if it's super far off) I get not excited for a little bit, then it's ADR booking day and I go crazy excited, and then it's on and off until the week of really.

It really does come & go and then the stress of all the planning can get to you, it will come back. I spend time reading my own old trip reports, other people's reports and watching videos!

Happens to me too. I'm an epic planner like you and it wears you out and you do start thinking that you can't do it all and you don't have enough time and then I just get stressed about going. And then I get there, walk in and see the castle and Main Street and it all comes back to me that it has nothing to do with ADRs or FPs or whether I brought the right lens for the camera. It's magic. Have a wonderful trip and remember - the best Disney moments can't be planned. pixiedust:

This is excellent advice.

Right now I am stressing about the plane ride and if there will be problems with the weather. I normally go in the summer when I don't have to worry abut delays due to weather.

I am also heading down a few days early with my DD before my DH joins us so that is making me a bit nervous too

I always lose my excitement too somewhere down the line. And then I get it back.

And then I lose it again the day before we fly down. It's like the planning was so exciting and now that it's here, it's going to be over and I get pretty depressed. I don't even feel like going anymore. But I know that's how I always feel so I trudge through packing and get my butt on that plane. And once I step into MCO, the excitement comes back and I always have a great time.

I stress about the plane ride and the weather no matter what time of year it is. I don't want anything to stop me from going! But, I have been trapped by a snowstorm in MSP and I still have gotten down to Disney, though it was delayed a day. Disappointing - yes! - but we did not let it ruin our trip. Now I know that I can deal with more than I give myself credit for dealing.

One word of advice - if you do find yourself facing major delays, immediately get on the phone with the airlines, even if you are at the airport and in line to talk to someone. By the time you get to the counter, other flights will have booked up.

Don't worry - you will get down there! And what a great opportunity to spend some quality time with your DD. You'll make some great memories, I'm sure!

I honestly understand!
Last October I had to somehow fit 4 parks in 4 days! I went through the same feelings... Thinking that I crammed way too much in. All my disney expert friends thought I was crazy! I even planned to go to the MNSSHP on our arrival night! (Crazy) We hopped a couple times so we could do a park all day and then a different park at night. I was dragging around a barely 3 y/o and a 6 y/o and my husband who thought I was crazy planning so much in one trip! But let me tell you... That was our best trip ever!!!!! We did not feel too rushed like I thought we would, going to the MNSSHP on the arrival night wasn't as bad as I thought it would be (not to mention it was the Friday b4 Halloween, the busiest night) We felt relaxed~ and even had a resort day, which was so nice to have. The girls did surprisingly great! We even squeezed in a BBB ressie followed by CRT! If I showed you by plans you would say "there's no way!" But we did it, and it was awesome!!! However, this October we are adding 5 more days bc I can't get enough of the most magical place on earth!
Get excited.... You are going to have a blast!!!!

I totally agree with all of this! When you first book a trip it's so thrilling to be FINALLY going back, then when you book ADRs, FP+ now, etc. But in those lulls where there's not much planning to be done, the stress sometimes sets in about how much is left to do. But don't sweat it! There are those totally magical moments that you'll feel it again; driving under the best arch in the world, checking in to your hotel and knowing your whole trip is ahead of you, hearing the Mickey Mouse march when you pull up to the MK... Sigh.

You'll get a second (or third or fourth) wind, and you'll remember how great it feels to be in such a magical place. Have fun, you're going so soon!

It happens to me too. Right now I am super excited about our upcoming trip.

I so relate to this! Right now I am in super planner mode but I know there is no way I could keep up like this everyday until our trip (I am exhausted just thinking about it). Thankfully, I have a couple other things to plan (two birthday parties and a couple day trips) that I can shift gears to and give myself a break and some time to get re-excited and recharged for Disney planning.
