Lose Fastpasses when moving offsite?

I'm about 25 days out from my trip and found a great deal offsite. I'd really like to save the $ but I also don't want to lose my fastpasses if I cancel my onsite room.

I have a room only reservation and tickets purchased separately (so no package.) I read a lot of threads, and it seems like most people are saying that cancelling my room won't affect my fastpasses, but some say it will. So I want to make sure---- I WON'T lose my fastpasses when I cancel my room-only reservation? Even though I will no longer have an onsite stay, and my fastpasses were booked at 60 days out? I just want to make sure I'm understanding that correctly.

Is that only because OP is now under the 30 day offsite window? I'd guess that's the case, because otherwise instead of doing a true "throwaway" room, people could just book any room, make reservations at 60 days out and then cancel the reservation.

You won't lose them, but being under 30 days out, will you lose your deposit on the Disney stay?

Don't forget also to factor in what parking and transportation will cost you by no time staying on site. Last trip, when I factored that it, it was cheaper to stay at Pop, where our reservation was, than to stay off site, and we had a rental car anyway!

You can cancel a room-only reservation up to 5 days in advance of your stay (or 6 days if reservation was made online).

Klayfish, even if they Canceled their onsite reservation between 60 to 31 days out, their FPs would remain but could not be Modified until 30 days out.

This is the main reason why Canceling an onsite room reservation is not discussed in any of the Stickies. Guests planning an expensive Disney vacation, who decide to change to an offsite location prior to arrival, can be assured their FPs will not disappear as long as valid ticket entitlements are linked to the MDE Profiles.

Thanks to the person who mentioned parking. I forgot to factor that into the cost but even with that, it's still saving $.

And Thanks for the definite answer. I was seeing so much different information online and I've been planning this trip for so long I wanted to make sure I wouldn't lose them.

This is an unfortunate loophole considering guests choosing to stay onsite (for considerably more money) might be doing so to gain the 60 days FP advantage. This is one of our main reasons for staying onsite. To think we could game the system by reserving onsite in advance and switching to offsite after FP reservations are made...ugh would never do it but I'm sure I'm way behind the game in knowing the loopholes.
