LOS purchase at check-in

I read somewhere around here that if you bought your LOS passes at check-in you could "lop off" the first and last day. If I'm going sat-sat and have big travel on those days, can I really just buy LOS for Sunday-Friday at the counter? That would be a big help! Thanks for any info...

I do know they will drop either the first OR last day, but, I would not bank on the first and last day. Cannot, however, hurt to ask.
