Day 1- Wednesday, March 16, 2005

Current weight: 243
Current Height: 5'2"
Diet of Choice: Atkins
Exercise: CURVES- 3x's a week

My name is Lori, I am 36 years old. I have been married 15 years this August. I have 3 beautiful daughters (I'm a little biased), they are 13,9, and 7. I am the General Ed. teacher in the Early Childhood/Special Ed. program in our school district.
I have been battling my weight for the past 16 years. I was very active in highschool; cheerleader, swim team, softball, and tennis. In college I gained the Freshman 15. My husband is so wonderful and supportive. He never says anything about my weight, and supports me in "all" the different diets I have tried. I gained most of lmy weight through my pregnancies. My last daughter was 10lbs at birth. Considering I'm only 5"2, that's a a lot of baby! I've never had any health issues due to my weight, and I have a husband that loves me despite being overweight, so the motivation to lose has really not been there.
Until now, I want to lose this weight for myself. I want to be a good example for my girls. So far, none of them are overweight, I want them to stay that way. I have some goals set for myself based on some upcoming events.
1) Lose 30lbs by June 3rd- this is my oldest daughters dance recital. She will be recognized for 10 years of dance, and the parents have to dress up and go one stage with her. I would like to be thinner for this.
2) Lose 50lbs. by Sept. 3rd- We are going to Disney, and I would like to be in some pictures with my girls. I am always the one taking the pictures because I do not like the way I look.
3) Lose 90lbs by June of 2006- this is my 20 year class reunion. I have gained so much weight I'm afraid no one will recognize me.
I know this seems like a lot of weight to lose- but if I stick to the diet and keep exercising I know I can
do it.
Thanks for listening and your support.

You can do it Lori! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Sure it seems like 90lbs is a lot, but when you break it down into smaller goals, it isn't so much. I have 76lbs to go and I started with 80 last week. Sure 4lbs is alot so quickly, but I have significantly cut down my portions and have increased my normal daily water intake (I know it won't always be that easy). The best thing is that my smallest goal of losing 20lbs by DD17's HS graduation in May is now only 16lbs away, much smaller number to think about.

Since you really want this for yourself, you will be able to succeed and start throwing out the "fat clothes"! Remember, anytime that you feel like you need a little nudge or a hug, just visit the boards and you will feel better in no time. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Welcome and good luck! Journaling is a great start. This is a great group--very supportive.

You can do it! :cheer2:

Lori!!! You CAN DO THIS!!!! You've hit the point where you WANT to do it and once you see the scale dropping it's really easy to manage. I lost 55 pounds over a year ago and life got a little hectic and I just had to drop out and let go of losing...well that made me put 15 or so more on and I'm finally back to where I was when I left WISH...WISH really helps you stay focused..and all the encouragment is wonderful when you're like most and spend more time encouraging others and less time on yourself! :)

I started pretty much where you're at and I can tell you with each 10 pound drop your body THANKS you with much more energy and pep! With three kids we need that!!! :)

Keep strong and remember you are WORTH it to focus on you for a while! :)

Day 2- Thursday, March 17th- Happy St. Patricks Day
I had a good day yesterday. I went to CURVES, and also stayed on my diet the entire day, no cheating!!! I made lasagne for the family, but I had a WW low carb meal. I drank all my water, and then some.
I've already been to CURVES today, and so far right on track.
Thanks for all the comments and encouragement. It really helps to know you have so much support.

Welcome, Lori, and good luck on your journey! The support you will find here is like nothing I have ever encountered in my life. I hope you will enjoy it and absorb it and let the people here help you change your life.
I think your goals are very reasonable. It must be so exciting to you to know you have already taken the first step by completing a successful day eating-wise, and by getting a workout in. You are going to feel so much better, too, working out.

Congratulations on making such a good decision, and good luck! :cheer2:
