We are doing a beach day and trying to decide between these 2 parks. My kids are 7 & 9, my daughter is looking forward to picking seashells. Opinions?

If picking seashells is your main criterion, you will have to go to Sanibel on the Gulf side, but it's too far for a day trip. Aside from shells, you could have a very nice day at either beach.

Picking seashells isn't our MAIN criteria, as long as there are a few, they don't have to be conch shells (sp?) or anything like that.

Shepard park, on coa coa beach is where we went last year, and where we are going back this year.

It's got a $5 parking fee, but it keeps the riff raff away from your car. The beach is very clean, and my daughters had a blast. The liked it better than the trip 2 years ago to st pete beach.

Cant say enough good things about shepard park.
