About me: I am a PLANNER. I have run Disney family trips for small groups, and large, some with babies and some with Grandmas. I've done high-quality newsletters, personalized t-shirts, color-coded Excel itineraries, etc. This will be my 9th trip to Disney, and the 5th for my kids.

This is the first time it will be just my family - myself, husband, 2 teenage daughters (15 and 17), and my nephew (19). It will be the first time I do not have to consider other families' financial situations, who's seeing Disney for the first time, who has a hard time walking, etc. So.......... I've decided to loosen the reins a bit on the planning. But the the OCD side of me is a bit nervous. I'd like to hear from someone who's done something similar, i.e. gone from super-planning to a more casual approach.

Keeping the kids ages in mind, I've purposefully selected the Swan to stay at because of location. With the Boardwalk right there, and walking access to HS and EPCOT, I feel I will be comfortable giving them a little bit of independence.

Also, rather than getting up at 6:00am every morning to get on the first bus out, I'm scheduling a couple mornings of sleeping in (like 'til 8:00, lol). I have not planned our park tours based on parades and shows.

With all that said, I do realize we will miss some stuff, and I would never recommend this type of trip to a newbie, but I'm hoping it will work out well for us and still be a very fulfilling vacation. Feedback welcome! Thank you...

I am also a big planner and have been able to chill on most the crazy details. The one thing that I have not been able to release from my OCD over plan everything Disney addiction is DINING.

With how difficult it can be to just walk into some of the best places to eat, I can't help myself!

Nevertheless, it can be done. Best of luck to you!
