When should I be able to call and see if I have been assigned? We check in on Saturday.

I have no patience (sp?)

Thanks!

They won't tell you anything until you are standing in front of them. Don't bother calling and asking what site you are going to get.

And if your site is not ready for you they wont even tell you then. They will make you call back to get the site number. I have been able to get the loop asignment at check-in but not the site number until the site is clean and ready. I guess they dont want us to go "help" the other people pack up.

Yea, like what's up with that?! When we arrived at 4:30am, in Dec '03 they wouldn't give us our site number. I'm sure the folks vacating the site that day would have appreciated the early wake-up call. :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I was able to confirm my loop number 5 days in advance. Now if you want the best shot at the site you want, be there no later than noon. Those that arrive early do get to pick once they check in and they see a site they want is empty.

Not entirely true. If you see a site that better suits you that is empty, you can call the front desk from a courtesy phone at any comfort station and see if you can get switched, but there is no policy that allows early arrivers to pick any empty site they see. Also, past experience has shown that assignments don't happen prior to the day of check in. You may have been able to confirm your loop request 5 days in advance, but it is doubtful your assignment had been made that far out.

:confused3 Just wondering with all this talk of site/loop assignment......we are part of a grand gathering that will take place in October/November 2009 (yes, I know, way far away yet...just bear with me...LOL) We are a group of about 12 or so TT/RV/PUP maybe closer to 15, anyway....just wondering if we will all be together in the same loop automatically, or do we have to request that? Or will be at least be in the same loop but not necessarily next to eachother? I just have this vision of us all being scattered in opposite corners of the Fort. Also, if anyone has ever been part of a grand gathering, what should we expect, or what if any different things will they have for our group. Thanks for any info.

If I remember correctly, don't they automatically put all people in a Grand Gathering near each other, or as close as possible? It would be pretty stupid if they didn't!

they should put you in 1 loop. I would fax and call to double check with them now and again 5 days before. There is a fax sheet example in the stickys above threads.

Since you have a grand gathering number, they will do their best to keep you all together. You can request certain loops using the form Goofy Campers mentioned, you could try to request a certain site.....but you might get giggled at :confused3 No harm in trying, though!

Just called the Ft. to confirm that they received my fax for the site request. They did tell me that my request has been received and we will be in the 900 loop, as far as the actual loop number, they are unable to tell me. That is usually what happens when we go. So looks like we are good for the 900 Loop when we pull in Sunday.

Who and what number did you talk to? They are only rude to me! All I am asking is if they have my request on record.

Its getting harder and harder to get a specific site #..........It use to be you could check( site 301 but you want 315 for an example) in and wait for your specific site to come availabe in a couple of days.......not that way any more.......

I'm with you goofy.......

But those winter settlers have ta do it if they want THIER site..

All I know is that we've gotten lucky the last few years and have gotten some great sites without having to move.

Here's to hoping that luck keeps up ;)
