Hello,
Anyone ever stayed in loop 300, specifically on site #301? We have a 32 foot fifth wheel with 2 slides and a 4 door truck, so need lots of room...also want to be close to playground. Is it noisey near the bus stops? We always have fans/air running, so maybe we won't hear anything if near bus stop.
Once we get to check in, do we choose the site we would like, or is our site already chosen for us? Can we request a specific site before arrival? (this will be our first time at FW...Dec. 2007)...if not, how specific can our request be? Can I for example ask for a site in loop 300, near bus stop, backing up to playground/creek?
Are there swings on any of the playgrounds or just slides and things to climb on?
Also....anyone from New York State who has a good route to get to FW...places to stay overnight, where to get diesel, etc? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,
Wendy

We have stayed in loop 300 several times. It is one of our favorite loops and we have stayed in it in both our 30 foot 5th wheel and now our 37 foot motorhome. You will be assigned a site based on the info. you give about your rv when you make the reservation. The only problem we ran into is that the loop is a bit tight and backing in (in a 5th wheel) can be tricky. We've only had one site we couldn't back into (at least not without a divorce or murder:lmao: ), we called and they gave us another one.

Disney will try to accomodate your requests, however they may not be able to accomodate all of them so list them in order of importance. We always make a loop request, and we have always gotten our request.:)

Don't know about swings on the playground, but you can hear the busses. We, like you, always have a/c and fans running so the busses don't bother us at all.

Live in Florida,:confused3 so I can't help you with a route.

Happy Camping!

We stayed in Loop 300 in Dec. 301 would be a nice corner lot. We stayed in site 354 which was just across from 301 and have the same as you a 30ft 5th wheel and 4-door crewcab. I got into our site on first try which was also a first. Site 360 would also be good as it is next to the playground and the exit gives you a lot of room to back into. I requested 360 for May but they did'nt put on my reservation but they put Loop 300.

The playgrounds have swings as well as climbing equipment. I know the 300 one and the marina one do and I'm pretty sure the pool one and the other one do, too.

Isnt site 301 the one the Howards normally occupy for 6 months of the year starting sometime in the fall till spring? 300 loop has lots of good sites however.

there are some threads from the last 2-3 weeks about folks traveling down to the Fort that will probably help you out. diesel is readily available along I-95. also if you google "I-95 exit guide" you will find a useful website (I don't have enough posts yet to post the link to it).

also if you go to www dot rv dot net, you can search those forums for travel info to the Fort.

have fun! we're on our way there tomorrow for the next 2 weeks!

We were in Loop 300 over President's weekend and the first two sites are long term "residents". Each had their names and "addresses" on bronze plaques! Not to mention all of the Valentine decorations known to man!

One was a Prevost and the other, well I never could find the brand, but let's just say if you (actually, I) don't recognize it, it had to be expensive. Any way, their toad was a Porche Boxter.

The loop is convenient to the Outpost and Settlement. It is one of our favorite loops. You can't actually request a specific site and expect to get that one, but you can request a specific loop and stand a good chance of getting it.

Good luck. If this is your first time to FW you are going to love it.

Is this a seasonal or monthly arrangement? Wow...6 months!

There used to be a "Settler's Rate" several years ago that was a monthly rate that ran from mid-January to mid-March, IIRC, but it's been a while. Disney discontinued offering this around 2000, maybe.

Now they will rent a space for up to a month or so at the rate that applies on the date you check in. If you time your ressies just right, you could theoretically get an AP rate for a couple of weeks at a time and just re-check-in during the times the AP rates applied. You might wind up with some ressies for a few days and some for a few weeks and over a six month time frame have a dozen different ressies to keep the AP rates covering your stay. Of course you might wind up with some of those shorter ressies at rack rate, too.

It would be worth it if you were wanting to spend the winter in Florida in your Provost by Country Coach with your F-250 toad like one of these guys or your other big $$ motor home with your Porsche Boxter toad. Must be nice!

Not sure if it you are aware, 300 loop is a very popular pet loop......

301 is a great site but as posted, it is usually occupied for 6 months.....

I believe they check in at oct check out in april........

We took 95 all the way down. We were told you couldn't go through the tunnel with the propane and to pick a different route. We made a wrong turn and went through the tunnel w/o a problem. Just followed the trucks!!. We've stayed at the campground at South of the Border. While the main area is tacky, the campground was clean, big sites and gated at night. It gave us something to do with the kids. On the way back we've stayed at the Jellystone in Emporia Va. Clean, nice sites and a pool and playroom. HTH!

Oh..man..South of the Border. It's been a number of years since we stopped there..and frankly it scared me more than your going through the tunnel with the propane!:scared1:

If you think reading about us going through the tunnel was scary...you should have been me screaming at my hubby the whole time!!

SOB wasn't that bad. It was real scanky for a couple of years then it got better again. The campground is clean and the sites large. I wouldn't step foot in the motel...heard horror stories about that!!

We ate in the diner part that isn't there any longer and actually had a pretty good meal. It was hysterical watching my daughter trying not to touch anything while eating!! We have many memories of that place. We didn't stop the last trip since we had no time, but plan on stopping just for icecream and a quick run through the stores this Nov. We have people with us that NEVER experienced it before : ) It's good for a laugh and a quick stretch of the legs.

It's been a while since we stopped at SOB..and once was enough. Creeped me out. We were in a hotel near by..and I stayed up all night..with the lights on to make sure nothing crawled out of anywhere.. ..it was gross! When we came out in the morning we found we were but a few feet from rail road tracks..it was really like a horror movie. That was on our first drive to Disney..and we sure did learn a lot. Mostly to stop South of South of the Border! Needless to say the subsequent trips were planned out a bit better.

Well, we don't sleep there when driving our car we just stop and shop and stretch our legs. When we have the motorhome..it's a good cheap #$17 place to camp. We use our own facilities and just walk around the place at night. It's wide open in the campground and pretty well lit.I can do w/o a stop there, but the kids get a kick out of it. And sometimes it's actually pretty clean : )
