The Kapalua Bay Hotel is going to be demolished and a new hotel will be built in it's place. The hotel is scheduled to closed in Spring 2006, and won't re-open until sometime in 2008. Looks like this is the last year of the Kapalua Bay hotel with DVC, since when it re-opens it will have more ties with the Ritz Carlton there.

Isn't that the one some people said was infested with insects?

it is falling apart according to the local papers out there. They just decided to rebuild using steel and concrete supports to eliminate some design flaws particualr to their site. If the Ritz is involved it will not be back with DVC.

That is really too bad! My DH and I had the opportunity to stay there a couple of years ago, and loved it. We walked over to look at the Ritz, and both decided that we like the Kapalua Bay hotel better.

I think the Ritz has been involved with this site for some time from what I've heard. Of course Marriott is now the parent organization for Ritz.

dean you are right but this hotel was in because of its prior relationship prior to the marriott taken over........marriott has it own club as you are well aware and the newer ritz properties are not part of DVC and likely wont be unless marriott decides it is better to share than not with disney properties. To date they have chosen the lone wolf path and i think it will stay that way given their corporate culture.

Maybe but Marriott has also not incorporated the Ritz into the MVCI at all, even the Ritz Timeshares. But there are other HI properties worthy of an affiliation, I suspect DVC will as at least one.

I would love to see the new Westin Hawaii timeshares be on the list. Disney already has a relationship with Sheraton so I can hope. My sister is considering buying one and has stayed twice on Maui and said they are great. They all have the Heavenly beds. This would be a great addition

The Westin In Kaanapali is on the list and has been for almost a year if my memory serves. It's for timeshare exchanges through II.
