We head on the Dream in a few months and we stop at Lookout Cay. My MIL is having knee surgery tomorrow so the idea of her walking that LONG walk to get to the island from the ship is daunting. My hubby said that he heard there are golf carts to help those that have mobility issues get from the ship to the island. Does anyone know how you request that?

FWIW I had knee surgery and the best thing for it is to walk. I was walking an hour later. In a 'few months' she should be much better than before the surgery. Wishing her well!

We were at Lookout Cay on Friday with the Fantasy and they do not have their mobility system down yet. We went to Guest Services a few days before we arrived there to have my wife put on the golf cart list and they gave us a time of 9:30 am to return to Guest Services. We were told that someone would meet us there to escort her to the golf cart. The morning we arrived at Lookout Cay we received a message in the app advising us to meet at Preludes between 9:15 to 9:30. We arrived at 9:25 to find a very long line and the cast members were writing down guests cabin numbers based on when they arrived so the system they had told us about initially was no longer being used. They started calling room numbers but the line was too long for everyone to hear what was being said. They ended up giving up on the list of rooms and then tried to just take people that were in line. This resulted in people just joining the line from other directions. At 9:45 myself and our kids left my wife in line so we could start the walk. She ended up joining us at the Tram stop at 10:25. She commented that people had left via the midship, walked down the pier to the golf carts near the forward area and were put right on a golf cart even though people inside had been waiting over an hour inside the ship. The worst part was that the theater was undergoing maintenance so all of the people waiting for a ride were forced to stand for the full hour. Disney knows that the system is not workingand hopefully they will have it figured out by the time you arrive but as of last week it is still very much broken.

Which knee surgery is she having? If it’s just arthroscopic, probably fine. If knee replacement, that’s a big honkin’ deal. I’ve had both knees replaced. I’m 8 mos out from second one. I’ve been able to do almost anything I want for about 2 months. How many months post surgery will you be sailing?
