When I originally saw the length of the docking pier I thought surely they are going to have a tram or some method of transporting people to the island. So obviously that didn't happen but does anyone think they'll have to come up with a solution for this problem. I don't think they have enough golf carts or drivers to solve this. Any ideas?

They added a towel station halfway down the pier. A team will not work because the pier is not wide enough

No the tram won’t run along the pier. I suppose more golf carts can always be added but will still likely be only for those who really need it (at least on the way there)

The first cruise there one of the vloggers videos showed a huge box truck next to the ship on the dock. Vlogger said it was being used to transport all the supplies from the ship to the island since it was the first cruise there and there were few supplies there. So the pier is wide and strong enough for a box truck, a tram like they used at Castaway Cay should be no problem.

And the people that do want to walk, where will they go? Like it or not the pier was designed as a walkway by the same people that know how far guests will go to walk into a park. Not saying I like it but there it is.

I don't think there would be room for a Castaway-type tram to turn around on this pier. At Castaway, there is a fairly large "circle" where the trams need to change directions. Perhaps if they had a "push-me, pull-you" type of tram that didn't need to turn around.....

There used to be a company that was creative and came up the Omnimover and the peoplemover, but that company died a while back. Haha This current company is just going to let their guest huff it!

That's what I have been saying (joking). They need to put in a People Mover/TTA type ride to take people to the island. Then guests get an attraction and transportation. Win/Win! :rotfl:

From people who have been, the walk isn't as long as it looks on camera. It's only 3-4 minutes longer than the walk to the trams on Castaway Cay. I've also heard they had plenty of golf carts around for people who needed them, to the point where drivers were asking random guests if they wanted a ride. I don't think they'll ever add a tram for this portion, but I also don't think they need one. Maybe some shade.

There are a lot of people with mobility issues and older folks who can't walk the half mile in the blazing Caribbean heat.

I just came back from a cruise at Lighthouse Point. The walk is not that long, it's actually nice to walk along the pier with great views of crystal clear turquoise waters. Plenty of opportunities to take scenic pictures or family pictures with the cruise as background.
As mentioned, golf carts are available for people with mobility issues.

The walking pier isn't wide enough for two-way tram traffic plus walkers, as well as the needed turn-around for the trams and queueing for the thousands of passengers waiting for the trams. Maybe The Mouse thinks cruisers are as athletically fit as Park guests.

Disney is already working on plans for their next private island destination where they just anchor off shore and have the guest swim for it. 😆

And the die hards will talk about how nice and how reasonable the experience really is. How it's just a slightly longer swim than most guests get when snorkeling or swimming out to Pelican Plunge.

What worries me is thunderstorms. There is a half mile of open, metal pier over open water. Disney will close pools and beaches and rides at the parks if thunderstorms are close. Will they do that for the Lookout Cay pier, even if it means delaying a scheduled departure?

I hope they will.
