I was looking at the Canon SX20IS or the Nikon P90. I really dont think I want a DSLR. :confused3. I do like the video capability on a camera and need sound. I see some have video but no sound when using zoom. Anybody have any suggestions or recommendations on others?

I bought the Canon SX20IS about 6 months ago on the recommendations of consumer reports. Had the camera with me for the MVMCP in December and the opening of the Flower and Garden show March 3rd. I couldnt be happier with my purchase!

Might check out the new Sony HX5V...it seems to have lots of feature content and some whiz-bang abilities in a very small package. Not quite the lens range of the S3IS on the telephoto end, but much more on the wide end. Has better high-ISO ability, supposedly some excellent video including being able to zoom while shooting video with no blackout. And in case you were anti-Sony because of 'proprietary' media, it can also accept SD cards as wellas the Memorystick Pro Duo.

(BTW - I don't have one, so I cannot speak to which is the 'best' or 'worst' - just another alternative to consider shopping for as an all-in-one camera that isn't a DSLR!)

Of the two you suggested, reviews tip in favor of the Canon. I'd second the above post in looking at the Sony. It is getting good reviews.

the Panasonic Lumix series is also a good one to look at

I agree with this. Since video was a very important feature I wanted, I started looking at the Sony HX5V and TX7. I'm pretty sure I'll get the HX5V due to the 10X zoom and image stabilization.
