Looking to see if kids with ADHD qualify under new DAS rules?

DAS isn’t about diagnosis, it’s about need, and since not everyone with ADHD has the same needs, some MAY be approved for DAS while other won’t be.
Yet they said Autism and other developmental disabilities right in description of who DAS was for. We qualified before because my kiddo has adhd and can't stand in lines. Just wondering if that was still the case or not.

You will have to explain why child has issues with standing in line not ADHD. So no one can say for sure. By site rules can not tell you what to say

Do kiddos with ADHD till qualify for DAS under new rules?
While I don't know the answer because we actually never thought of trying to use this . . . we do plan for our kiddo by not choosing lines with waits over 15-20 minutes unless absolutely necessary, downloading apps (we've done Florida and Disney trivia, played charades or Heads UP), playing stix (a game you play with your fingers), I spy, etc. If we chose a long wait time line, we'd often get him a drink/snack first. He's got some sensory needs so we typically tried to sandwich him in the middle of our group because sometimes he likes to "bump" into someone. I'm sure others have tips and tricks if you want to ask that question too. Best of luck!

Since the DAS is not a front-of-the-line pass, you will still need to figure out some coping strategies for the queues. DAS puts your party into the Lightning Lane, which can still be 15-20 mins long (or longer if a ride has broken down, or has just come back up from a closure)

If you qualified before then you have been through the process and should be familiar with it. It is not diagnosis-based but need-based. Just because someone has ADHD does not guarantee approval.

It seems the DAS is being approved on a needs basis and not a diagnosis. From what I have seen, heard and read on multiple sites and talking to individuals here is how approvals and denials are going.

For mobility issues it seems they are all being pretty much denied, reason/suggestions that were given is that the queues are wide enough for WC and scooters.

For development issues (autism/ADHD) DAS is strictly approved on a needs basis with RTQ and AQ Reentry being offered if denied for DAS.

For incontinence seems to be RTQ and AQ Reentry.

For individuals that have issues with standing/waiting in line seems to be RTQ and AQ Reentry.

Add in pre-ride shows/skits at many rides, and it will definitely be longer. Guardians was 45 minutes enter to exit for us using VQ and ILL everytime we rode it, Rise has lines within the ride, M&MRR queue and preshow with DAS or G+ takes a while.

Not necessarily. It’s come out people were being approved sometimes with very little beyond “my kid has ADHD and can’t stand in lines” especially by the in park CMs trying to avoid confrontation. So people may not actually be familiar with what was supposed to have been the process of describing needs and not a diagnosis.

The days of saying “my kid has ADHD and can’t stand in lines” are definitely over now though. OP, be ready to go far, far deeper into their issues, and then be ready to do it again if they bring in a medical specialist to the interview. And have a plan for being denied.

From my understanding it is definitely the specific issues. For example, my daughter has ADHD and does not have an issue waiting in lines so for us it would not apply (and we wouldn't even think to use it-just never dawned on me). I think this just cannot be answered by diagnosis anymore.

Just diagnosis does not qualify for DAS because people with the same diagnosis can have very different needs or concerns with waiting in lines. Some may have no issues and others will.

So, just knowing someone with the same condition was approved or not approved for DAS doesn't tell anything about anyone else being approved.
Be ready to explain the concerns/needs with waiting in line.

It all depends on if lines trigger their ADHD or not. For me a adult with ADHD that leans towards the AuDHD side it definitely does and I explained that to the CM, approved in 5 minutes.

Not sure we should be telling people what to say in order to be approved.
It's common knowledge though. The diagnosis means nothing, it's all based on if you can or cannot stand in line.
Everyone is getting all up in arms about this diagnosis being accepted or this diagnosis being denied but forgetting the point of DAS.
DAS is for those who can't stand in line and you need to be able to explain why your disability doesn't allow it.

I agree - you are not sharing any information that could be used directly for someone to scam.

it’s been common knowledge for a long time that the MAIN question is ‘What are your concerns with waiting in the regular lines?’
People should be prepared to discuss those things for THEIR SPECIFIC situation.
Whatever the condition, each person will be have somewhat different concerns.
They should also be ready that there might be follow up questions asked (we don’t want those listed here).
