Okay, just watched the special on the travel channel about Disney Cruises--WOW!! We love going to the world & are now toying with trying out a 3 nt cruise in mid December before a stay at BCV (of course, I haven't seen a quote yet...it's considered "value" season, but I'm not sure what that will mean for 7 of us!) Anyway, I'm wondering what to expect weather-wise for that time of year. Any voices of experience out there?? Thanks in advance for any input!:earsboy:

Hi DISNEYMOMx5!

We've cruised twice in December and once in January. December weather was about on average 5-10 degrees warmer than January -- somewhere between 75 - 85 degrees both times. The water in Castaway Cay was a bit too cold for my liking, though.

Overall, I would cruise in December again for a couple of reasons. 1 - the weather was very pleasant (especially in comparison to what it was in PA at the time); 2 - The prices are SO MUCH less expensive than busier cruise times; 3 - the holiday decorations in December are alone worth cruising at this time for.

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR DECISION! I hope this was helpful.

Our anniversary is in December and that is when we usually choose to travel. We haven't been on a December cruise yet, but we have been to Jamaica and other islands often during the month of December. We have found the weather to be perfect and I never minded the water temperature.

This last December was our first experiance on a big ship cruise, and while we chose December primarily because it was our honeymoon, and our wedding was 11/22 :), We also like going to FL in that off-season for many of the reasons CRSNDSNY said.

However, be prepared for yucky weather. It rained a lot on our 3-day, it was very windy and we were unable to dock at Castaway Cay. While it would have been nice to see the island, the weather was so bad, I didn't mind staying on the ship, there was so much to do!

I think Dec is great, just be aware of some hitches in the weather:)

We were on the 7 day eastern dec 13-20 and had WONDERFUL weather! It was windy in Castaway Cay (water too cold for me) but the kids still loved it.

The weather and price was GREAT for us in December. We'd definitely do it again.

The weather back home is always cold and nasty, the ship is beautiful (like out of a movie) and the caribbean is warm. (80's) This year will be our forth December cruise and I can't think of a better way to decompress at such a hectic time.

Thank you for the replies!! I am definitely encouraged & so thankful for these boards...all I've done during these past few days during free time is read all the great advice, etc. I like to feel prepared (especially when going on a new adventure!) when travelling as a family of 7. Thanks again!! Hopefully very soon I will be posting a thread stating we've booked our first cruise!!
