Looking to become a travel agent...

I haven't heard that either. No bookings from me since March and my agency has not told me to book or I'll be cut off. He's always said you get out what you put in with no quota requirements.

That is what my host agency told me, but I haven't been cut off yet. Now if only those 2014 rates would come out...

I haven't heard that Disney will cut you off either, but I am a new agent.

So, what is everyone's (those of you that are Disney Travel Agents) host agency? Or, is it forum rules not to mention whom you all work with?

My family and I absolutely love Disney, and we have an annual pass right now. It would be really cool to have a very part-time job in helping people book a vacation with Disney.

Which resources would you recommend gives the best opportunity for a newbie like me to get started as a Disney Travel Agent?

Thanks!

I personally don't think it was harsh...just very honest. There are so many people who come on here and say "I love planning vacations and would love to do it as a living."

Come on...get real. Do you really think you are going to make a living easily planning vacations from your living room? That era has passed.

Of course, we all love planning vacations and we all think that we are experts. But are we really going to make a full-time living at it? NO.

So, I don't think the prior poster was harsh at all.

You don't get paid until they have taken their vacation. And so much can change in that time period. Not to mention people cancel vacations. I don't do it as a living I do it for us alone. I have no desire to sell.

Wow another harsh response. Just as harsh as the person you agreed with. Especially when it was not what the poster said at all.

Did you actually read what the poster said? They said they were NOT looking to make living. Just increase their knowledge to help.

What they said in bolded part.

Is the Disney College of Knowledge Classes something you can take just on your own? I help a lot of friends with trips and while I don't do it for money, I'm always looking to expand my knowledge. Also, would you then be able to actually book trips for them? I'm not looking to make a living, just get better at helping friends because it's SO fun. :) Sorry OP, not trying to hijack your thread. :goodvibes

So am not sure why you had to be harsh saying all what you did when the poster never said anything about making a living off of it.
