Okay........I have been to Disney a few times with my older boys (now 15 and 12), but now I have a 9 month old. I brought him when he was 3 months old and that was easy.

Now I am looking for your best tips when taking a 9 month old. :confused3
I am going at the end of June and I'm sure it will be hot and crowded!!

Thanks for any tips you have to offer! :)

When DD was almost 10 months old, we took her to WDW in May and it was pretty warm even then. We brought both a stroller and our Baby Bjorn, and that worked out great. Just make sure you have a comfy stroller that your baby can sleep in, unless you plan on going back to the hotel for a nap. But with DD, we quickly found out that it didn't matter where we were. She would just conk out and that would be it. As long as we took it easy and kept her cool, she would sleep for the length of her usual nap.

I don't know if you are using formula or still nursing, but when we went we were using formula. We bought some single-serving ready to drink formula that we would just pop open and put into a bottle for her. We brought baby foods (disposable Gerber ones worked great!) and other little finger foods that she could eat whenever. Definitely use the baby care stations. We would go to these at least once or twice at the parks to get away from the heat and the crowds.

Good luck and have fun!

When we recently went down with our two young children, I made up "meal kits" ahead of time at home: packed a disposable spoon, disposable bib, disposable place mat, and jar of baby food in a ziploc bag for each meal. When packing the diaper bag, I just had to grab one meal kit for each meal for the day, instead of packing spoons, bibs, place mats, and baby food separately each day.

Also, the disposable changing pads were great and took up less room than a regular changing pad. And I used disposable sippy cups too. All of the disposable items were available at Babies R Us -- cost a bit, but I rinsed the and stuck them in a grocery bag to wash at home. Now, I have them washed and put away for our next trip!

Basically, I found that anything I could do to prepare ahead of time helped. Laying out the clothes and repacking the diaper bag in the evening instead of the morning, for instance, worked really well.

Enjoy your trip!

Thanks for the tips so far!! I have read that you can find the disposable placemats at WalMart, but I have never seen them. What department should I look for them in??

Thanks again! :)

We just returned from our 10 day trip and I have a ds7, ds5 & ds9 months and because the 2 older ones wanted to ride many of the older kid rides, I found myself trying to find places for my little crawler to get down and crawl. Many of the rides have a nice air conditioned exit area, so I would take him there and let him get down and play.

Make sure you have a comfortable stroller, that is where he spent most of the trip :guilty: Thank goodness he is a very good natured little boy and loved just people watching.

So many people would ask me if I had the choice would I take him again at that age....the answer is still Yes....he loved the trip and even if he couldn't do the big rides, he had fun with the characters and watching all the excitement around him.

If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer any of them for you :goodvibes

Our DD went on her first trip when she was 9 mos. If you took it at 3 mos. it probably won't be harder at 9 mos.

(Wait! Does that mean you just went 6 mos ago?...AGH! I'm so jealous!)

My best advice would be to bring your stroller. You can rent at the parks, but when you're outside them and either him or you get tired, it's a back- and arm-saver! ;). Plus, you can use it to carry his diaper/stuff bag when he's not on it!

My dd was about 13mos our first trip but I will add my .02. A comfy fully reclining stroller from home is a must! We used a clip on umbrella for extra shade and a clip on fan to keep baby cool and act as white noise while dd was sleeping. Although I planned to return for naps and swimming every day that didn't always happen as dd often just napped in the stroller. We used a baby bjorn for lines and some attractions and that was a lifesaver.

A couple evenings we just put both dd's in PJ's, loaded up the double stroller and headed to Epcot. By 8ish they were both asleep and DD and I enjoyed an evening "to oursleves" enjoyed the live entertainment and even had a beverage!

The above idea about prepacking the meals is a great one, my sil had our 15mo neice with us in December and it was nice to have some toddler foods in addition to the table/counter service meals. My sil had no trouble finding milk but she did bring along some formula as my neice is tiny and still drinks both. If the lines were long for milk she would just mix up some formula from the powder and water she brought along.

I guess the best tip is to play it by ear and if necessary be prepared to separate. With disney transportation you can separate for an hour or for an afternoon if need be - cellphones or walkie talkies help with this.

Thanks everyone! I do have another question though.

How did you bring all the baby food to Disney. I will not be doing a grocery stop and I really don't want to have anyone else pick out the different jars.

I am packing all of the ready to feed cans of formula in our luggage, but I'm not sure what to do with the glass jars (and plastic fruit containers). Did you put this in your luggage or did you bring the glass jars in your carry on? (can you even bring them in your carry on?)

Thanks again! :)

I used powder so I didn't have to lug the RTF - make sure it can withstand the pressure changes in the aircraft?

Honestly we always do a grocery stop and even now I couldn't live without it. For the $ we save for a family of 4 its well worth the price of a towncar to have the grocery stop (@$110). Even with DME now an option I am sure we will continue to use a towncar service.

I love to have water/soda and juice, milk and breakfast foods in the room as well as a few lunch fixings and snacks. I like this as much for the convenience and having the foods we prefer as well as for the cost savings.

I brought the powered formula with us in our checked luggage and then we had a towncar pick us up (we used DME on the trip home). So that way we could make a grocery stop and get all of his babyfood, cereal, bottled water, juice and some snacks and things for the rest of the family. This worked out great and well worth the money you spend on the towncar :teeth:

I never gave the pressure changes a thought! Will this be a problem?? I may end up shipping everying UPS if this is going to be a problem.

I am using DME this time so we will not have a grocery stop. I'm just not sure how to take all the glass jars!

At DL we found that the cost of jarred food in the baby care center was $.01 more than the grocery stores. Once I figured that out we just bought a few jars each day for her to eat.

We use powdered formula so we just took a costco container of it and it lasted the whole week.

-Make a couple of stops at the Baby Station inside the park, especially if you're nursing or baby likes quiet while eating.
-Plan a leisurely pace.
-Utilize the baby swapping so that the older kids can enjoy their favorite rides
-Prescoop formula into the small ziplock bags and have bottled water in the diaper bag so bottles are easy to mix.
-Plan on a sit-down lunch inside the park so everyone can refuel
-Midday nap visits to the hotel are great

Plan on getting nothing accomplished, and you will be pleasantly surprised that you will get a lot done!

Hang at the pool and make the baby as comfortable as possible.

Buy a digital camera for those "one in a million" shots.

You can also buy these on the website, www.babiestravellite.com and they will be in a box at your hotel room when you get there. They have a bunch of other stuff, too, but since you were asking about the jars... :) I just was on there and saw they had Gerber brand, Tender Harvest and some other organic brand that they don't sell in my area. Hope that helps!

I know your asking about the glass jars... my baby's still a sole nurser, but I know they make plastic jars. I've seen them at the daycare I work at. Perhaps these would be easier to pack than the glass ones.

We just got back with our 9 month old, and I did pack everything, since we were also doing the cruise. I packed one suitcase with all her stuff and put the jars in between the diapers, (for extra protection) We checked that bag (not a carry on)and nothing was broken or damaged. It worked for us that everything was in one place. Always pack the diaper bag the night before, you don't want to be looking for a pacifier or bottle of water and realize that you left it in the room. (which we did)
The baby was great! She loved looking at everything! I'd do it again tomorrow if I could...guess we'll have to wait until next year!
