Looking for WISHWalker's staying at DVC's for '05 marathon...

I noticed there were quite a few people staying at DVC resorts for the marathon... so, I was just wondering which DVC resort are you all staying at? My DH and I own at BCV's and that's where we have reserved for now, but I'm thinking about changing to BWV's. How about everyone else?

As long as we can get the ressie we want, we are renting points at Villas at Wilderness Lodge. Pretty darned excited about that, I might add. NancyK, Debbie, and Susan-Ontario will be there as well. We've never stayed DVC, and people keep telling us we'll want to buy after staying there

I'm registered for OKW, but I may change over to BW or BCV at the 7 month window.

We are checking in to CBR and paying cash for the 7,8 & 9th so I can be with my WISH buddies. (ohmom, alreadyexcitedgrammy, tammync and evansomom)

Then on Sunday night we are moving over to Saratoga Springs Resort for 12 nights. We always spend the last two weeks in January at Disney. For 2005 we're just moving it up a week so I can do the half marathon.

I love my VWL (and my BCV too)! Renting first is the best way to go! But once you see it, you'll own it! I started off with VWL and then added on at BCV so I have the 7 month window for both places. I can't wait to go in October! I'm going to try for the marathon in 2006 ...and fyi - the best guide for DVC is Byron!....Have fun at the marathon, wish I was going!

Yep, we've arranged to rent the points. Now we just have to wait until the 7 month window to see if we can get what we want. We've never done this before, and I know that people do it all the time, all over the world. We are very fortunate to be dealing with a Dis'er that is also from our own city here in Ontario. He did tell me that once we go there, we'll be coming home a DVC member ! I had to promise DH that I won't even consider it right now!

What's your second choice if you don't get into VWL???? I'm glad you already arragned for points becuase I was gonna tell you if you hadn't to do it soon! Marathon weekend books pretty fast!

We are staying at CBR for a couple of nights (7 & 8th, I believe) then we are using our DVC points. We are hoping to use them at Saratoga Springs for the remainder of our time there. Right now I can't remember what date we were looking at leaving town.

Tammy- we were going to do the same thing to save points, but when I spoke to a few people that had done the marathon, they said it would be better to not check out of the resort you're staying in on Sunday because you will be so tired that you'll want to get back to your room to rest and relax- and you won't be able to do that if you have to check out. Have you thought of that? I didn't really want to use the extra points myself, but wanted the convienece of staying at an EPCOT resort- mostly because I'm picking up bits and pieces of info from other Disers- saying that trying to get back to other resorts was frustrating because of the traffic etc. So- I decided to use the points and stay at BCV's. HOWEVER- now that I'm looking at the half marathon route- I see it ends over by the MK- I wonder if I should stay at a MK resort for the weekend and switch over on Monday morning.... that way I'll get into my resort room as soon as I want to after I'm finished.

Is anyone here planning on a message when they are done?

karebear-I hadn't thought too much about that. Will have to consider if we could afford the $ to stay an extra night instead of using points. Thanks for bringing up that issue. I'll post once DH and I talk and think about it a little further. We have until June or July before we can try to make our reservations for DVC, so at least we have a little while to think on it.

As Mary-Liz said we're staying at VWL. We also have booked a cash room in case we don't get a room for the Marathon weekend with our points. Either way we'll be at my most favourite resort.
