If you take a simlock free phone you can buy a prepaid card in every country.
They sell them in almost every shop.

The multi country card could !!! be sold by Vodaphone but I think it will be very expensive.

In reverse we just use our own cell phone in the USA. Its not worth the hassle. But to be honest we always use our cellphone in Europe no matter what country we are and the costs calling in Europe are the same as calling home from the US.
