I know that you shouldn't expect anything "free" from Disney while staying there for your honeymoon, and that there are somethings to do to increase your chances of getting some freebies, but besides all that I was wondering what other tips where out there!

My Future Husband and I have been going to Disney almost every year (twice a year) since we've been together. We made the choice that once we got engaged that we would not go to Disney again until our honeymoon in October (so it's been almost over a year since we've gone.)

I just want to find out what other tips everyone has for going in october or just going in general.

This time when we go we will be doing something we've never done, we will be dinning at better resturants (with the all inclusive package) and staying at a much nicer resort, the Carribean Beach Resort. I have found out some special things about the resort such as telling them what section of the hotel you want to be in.

But what else is there.... So please, post your hints and tips here, best place to take photographs, best kept secrets, things like that.

Thanks everyone! Have a Disney Day!

Congrats on your Honeymoon!

Have you checked out the Honeymooner/Wedding board? It is full of info.

We spent our honeymoon, all 15 days of it, at the WL in Nov/Dec 99. We had a blast because the weather was great, we were staying in an amazing resort, and we were alone! (Nice after the wedding!) We wore Mickey and Minnie groom/bride hats and had a great time being recognized. As far as free stuff, we got an ice cream from one of the carts and champagne delivered to our room. But the required singing at the Whispering Canyon, the dancing around at the Hoop Dee Doo, and people congratulating us everywhere was great! I enjoyed talking to people who had just got married too, there were a bunch!

I would suggest that you take it slow, relax with each other, and use the amenities at the CBR. We stayed there for our first trip together and made full use of the double hammock by the water! Nice!

Enjoy!

The only tips I have are tell the CM when you are making your ADRs that you are going to be on your honeymoon, tell CMs it's your honeymoon when checking in at a restaurant, when asked "how are you doing", etc. And, wear the bride and groom ears!

We had a fantastic time on our honeymoon and CMs and other guests were incredible in wishing us well.

We celebrated our honeymoon is WDW and had a blast. And I say DON'T wear the Mickey and Minnie grooms/bride ears. I think they look sooooo cheesy and just scream out that you want attention. We wore "On Our Honeymoon" Pins with a picture of Cinderella and Prince Charming driving off in the carriage that came with our honeymoon package. A lot of CMs and characters noticed them. Half the time we forgot we had them on until they noticed. Mary Poppins saw them right away and made an announcement to everyone that we were on our honeymoon, made the crowd do a hip-hip horray for us, and we got some great pictures with her. Daisy tried to steal DH from me then Donald tried to steal me from DH, then they saw our pins and took both of our hands and made us hold hands and kiss...really funny!

I say definately wear the mickey and minnie wedding ears. My husband and I went in sep. 2001. We had so many cm's give us passes to bypass the line at an attraction and get right on. On rocknrollercoaster the cm pointed us to this door that brought us right back to the front of the line. At most of our meals they had something special for us cakes, certificates, champagne glasses from CRT. The best thing of all was at AK. We were on our way to the safari when we had two men step in front of us and said "Excuse me, I know your are in a hurry to get to the safari but how would you like to be in the parade today! We were so excited. They put us on the last float in the parade with Mickey Mouse. When the parade started a cm took a picture of us on the float with a disposable camera and then gave us the camera to keep. It was so much fun. Something my husband and I will never forget. I would definately get them. The cm's go the extra mile to make you feel special. Congratulations.

Alas.. romance.
I'm guessing you're on a budget.. here's a couple words of drc wisdom...
1. the carriage ride at port orleans or fort wilderness. no res req. but you can make one if you like call 407 wdw play. 30 bucks for 30 minutes, and you can bring wine. FW also has horseback riding, not as cheap, but you don't have to stay there to do it. That also applies to canoes, bikes, etc. even the sing along w chip and dale every night there. It's not just for the campers, all resort guests can go. If you do go to the sing along, don't pre-buy your smores stuff. the whole kit is 5 bucks when you get there. you'll spend 15 at the grocery.
2. almost every restraunt has a cake phone no. listed on the r-notes. ask your cm at wdw dine for the individual kitchen number for any one of them and give the kitchen a call. they can do amazing personalized things. don't tell your hubbie to be... fun surprise. they req. 48 hrs notice
3. Citricos at gfr&s.. casual upscale (2 sitdowns on the myw+d at the time of this posting,) they can print a menu for you if you give them notice.
4. wear the ears. everywhere.
5. go to the comedy warehouse at pleasure island. ask if you can be seated by a phone and take a chance.
6. Jellyrolls. fun adults only entertainment. sing at the top of your lungs. it's at the boardwalk. drinks are big and cheap.
7. disney florist)(. com) not as expensive as you think and they can do oh so much. it won't be waiting in your room when you arrive, but maybe when you get back from park-hopping...
8. cbr has an upgraded room category. The varried view. It has a king bed, but could view anything. book it. req. water. It's the only way to guar king bedding. You can't even do that in the deluxes without a suite.
9. Get the most out of your package. It rocks! In epcot, canada... LeCelier just changed to 1 sit down on the myw+d. mmmm. Same with Chef's De France, Mitsukashi, and Alfredo's. To get the most out of your plus dining, go to the official disney website.. scroll to the bottom of the page, click on site map. From there, 2005 packages under tickets and reservations. then scroll a smidge to myw+d. there's a black hyperlink that says over 200 selected restraunts, or something like that... click it. It's an adobe printable brochure that lists the restraunts, the number of points, sit down vs. cs and snack, etc. When you get there and go to use your counter service points, don't forget there's a desert included. If you leave your cookies behind, they end up in our computers :). Your sit down includes apetizor, entre, desert, tax, and tip for each person! Don't share! Get the most expensive thing on the menu!
10. When you book your room, or call to modify, tell us it's your honeymoon. If we aren't too rushed trying to sell our thousand bucks an hour (so we aren't sacked.. but that's another topic) , there is a little something we can do... don't ask for it directly, it makes us mad, but do gush about romance and honeymoons. :)
11. Don't forget to get a photopass from the first walkaround photographer you see. photopass rocks. All your pictures will be on one little credit card to view and order (or make your friends order) when you get back home.
12. If you want california grill (2 points) at firework time...(the best view there is btw) you have to book it at 90 days out. you'll be guessing at firework time because the park scheds aren't posted till 2 months out, but if you guess right, ooooo.
13. it's october... food and wine fest.. mmmm. and the not so scary party. get tickets now. they sell out closest to halloween first. Don't forget costumes, they aren't just for kiddos.
14. begining of October? if you arrive before the 4th, call us back and ask for ynw. thestay play and dine. the food's free, but we can't tell you that when you're booking unless you ask. (it's also value season)

well.... I'm running on a bit... I hope this helps. Congratulations!

Wow - great tips - I decided to jump on this thread too! I will also be honeymooning at Disney in October! :cheer2:

Honeymooned in 96. I setup all of the PS and mentioned every time that it was our honeymoon. We always had front row seats at shows and better tables at restaurants. Nice cake for us at Victoria and Alberts too.

We opted not to wear the bride and groom ears, but I did order shirts ahead of time from Disneydirect. They have the bride and groom mickey and minnie and say "Just Married", with our names and our wedding date. We had fun wearing those shirts and couldnt believe how many people wished us well when they saw them! It was wonderful! :flower:

We just got back Saturday from our HM. We had a great time. We did not wear the mouse ears. DH didn't want to until the last day and then he only wanted them so we could take a pic in front of the castle. We did go to city hall and get the pins. Everyone noticed them and told us congrats. The only suggestion that I have is make PS. We did not only because the last time we had been to Disney was when we were kids. I only say this because I got really sick of eating counter service food. We did get lucky and did not have to wait at MGM to eat the the 50's Prime Time. That was a blast. You will be so suprised at how many honeymooners you will see.

Good Luck
Holly

great tips everyone thanks!! We are honeymooning in October as well, CAN'T WAIT!!

dh and i went there for our honeymoon and had a blast - well...... we always have a blast when we go there.

i would say to wear the hats, i liked it. although they came out with bridal ears w/ veil on a headband after we went. i like the headband one better, because the veil kinda pulls the hat backwards, so i had to pin it on my head when i wore it. the headband one wears better.

when you go to the parks go to guest relations and ask for the pins that they have now. they will give them to you free. they look like the "it's my birthday" pins. the wedding ones have a bride/groom mickey and minnie. and say "magical wishes". or at least ours did when we got them. i have also seen them with "just married".

we got free desserts from all of the restaurants that we ate at. that is not something that they have to do, but if they did it, we would give the cm an extra tip for being so nice and trying to make our time extra special.

the garden grill gave us a "wedding cake" that said congradulations on it.
343%3B399523232%7Ffp46%3Dot%3E2336%3D845%3D45%3B%3DXROQDF%3E2323893%3A4%3A76%3Aot1lsi

we got lots of fastpasses, or the cm on the ride would pull us to the side and take us a back way (like the way that they do for the disabled entry), and we would end up in the front of the line. at mgm, cms for beauty and the beast and indiana jones pulled us out of the line and placed us in a "reserved seating area" in the front center rows. sometimes cms are busy and don't notice your pins, but they would notice the hats. (how can you not? :bride: :groom: )

when we went i wasn't expecting anything out of wearing those things. i just wanted to wear them in celebration of our wedding. i think that when you aren't expecting too much that is when all of the nice things happen.

good luck and congradulations!

I'm doing both - the minnie ears and the wedding shirt (not on the same days of course). I'm glad to hear that the shirt was worth it.
