The Wave is part of my rotation of restaurants, I truly don't have a "must do" anything at Disney other than salty, buttery popcorn and a French slush of some kind! I don't think of the Wave as a 5 star (if I wanted that I'd book Cal. Grill) restaurant but I think the quality and the cuisine are in line with respect to what they charge. We are going there in August, staying at BLT, 6 of us, so it will be an easy dinner that I'm sure will be good. I really enjoyed the fun take on the Bacon & Eggs appetizer and the short ribs hold a dear place in my heart (never met a short rib I didn't like). We've had the grilled pork, the grilled tenderloin, our vegetarian has had the scallops, all quite good. Add a pressed pot of good Colombian coffee with the little chocolate desserts, what more could I ask for! Now, as far as service, we enjoy time together, conversation, food and drink... I don't want to be rushed, we don't do the "commando" park thing, and service as always been very good. I've never experienced rude or poor service there.
We are also doing the breakfast buffet at the Wave on departure day, not much of a breakfast/buffet fan, but with teenagers and (2) 22 year old boys, well it's going to take a beating!
Having eaten at Cal Grill, very good food, certainly a different price point than the Wave, I couldn't tell you what I ate there 5 years ago either. What truly stands out to me with Disney dining, the bad service, the poor food. Those I do remember and I don't frequent them anymore.
