As we typically do every trip to WDW, we take guests with us, and I like for them to have the best experience we can provide. (Hey, it's Disney, so that comes easily.)

But this time, I did something I swore I'd never do ... I allowed a boatload of questionable reviews sway my opinion, and I canceled our ressies at Alfredo's. We've had a couple of good meals there, and a couple that were just OK, nothing horrible. This time, I've just gotten a "feeling," and while one bad or mediocre meal doesn't make or break a trip - life's too short to get bent out of shape over groceries - I still want our newbies to have a good time.

So after letting everyone look at menus, and debate a little, the consensus was Chefs de France for our first night. We ate there over Thanksgiving and it was just a really good experience all around.

Any of y'all been in the last couple of months? I'd love to have a brief review that is based on a RECENT visit.

We ate at Chefs de France in late January and we enjoyed it so much that we went again in March. For appetizers our group(s) had Escargot, onion soup and the cheese plate. They were all very good, but I have to say that the cheese plate is a bit too much for one person before a big meal. For meals DH had the chicken and I had the lamb both trips. They were both outstanding. Our friends with us on the first trip both had steak and enjoyed it as well. I don't remember what we had for dessert, but they were all delicious as well. The service was also excellent. We actually had the same server both trips and she was wonderful both times.

Enjoy your trip!

Well I loved Chefs, we went the last night of our trip April 5. It was absolutely delicious. I had the lobster bisque and the steak, all incredibly delicious. And on a side note...

the waiters are gorgeous!! I had whiplash from looking left and right at all the beautiful boys!! I swear, I still remember their names, Nicolas, Laurent, Jean-Luc, Ludvic... all gorgeous.

We had lunch at the end of March at Chef's...previous visit was Dec 05. Both times I was impressed by the service and food. We had great window seats both times and it was a relaxing, slow paced meal. :goodvibes

We had lunch at Chefs in March, and overall had a very good meal. We had the onion and bacon tart, mushroom and cheese tart, lobster bisque, croque monsieur, crepe basquaise, and the cheese plate.

The tarts were both delicious, with a light and flaky crust; the crepe basquiaise was also very tasty, wonderful little morsels of chicken and peppers in a crepe; the croque monsieur was ok, a toasted ham and cheese; and the cheese plate I would not recommend. The supposedly "imported" cheeses were rather average slabs of brie, swiss and provolone - they were served chilled rather than room temp, so they really lacked any flavor and the three of us were unable to finish it. The salad served with the crepe and croque was just "eh". Not fantastic, but not bad either.

Service was good, although our waiter wasn't overly friendly, I tried to practice my French and he didn't play along! ;) He was, however, very attentive, and that's the most important thing.

I hope you have a wonderful meal there, it is a lovely restaurant. :sunny:

We had dinner at Chefs de France last Friday. Appetizers were escargot for DD17, lobster bisque for DH & DD19, French onion soup for me. DD17 loved the escargot and mopped up every bit of sauce with some of their delicious crusty bread. My soup was the best French onion I've ever tasted. DH & DD19both enjoyed their lobster bisque although DD19 thought the French onion was better. For our entrees, everyone had the filet. They were all cooked to perfection, as usual, and you could practically cut them with a fork. Sides are augratin potatoes and green beans. DD17 & DH didn't like the beans. Both though they were too crunchy. All of the desserts were delicious. We had profiteroles, mango sorbet with fresh fruit, chocolate tart with banana and coconut, and an apple crepe with ice cream.

Service, as usual, was very good. DDs both enjoyed looking at all of the good looking French waiters. I enjoyed the French wine.
