We last went to disney in 2017. I am doing some early research for July 2019. I noticed they changed the room discount to where the percentage goes down based on capacity. Anyone experience this for this summer? And not get the full 30/35 or 40percent off?
I am just trying to get a rough amount to budget over the next year, pending that they renew the discount.
Appreciate any input :)

We have an 11 night split stay beginning July 3. Contemporary and Beach Club, both Club Level. We got the full 40% off at Contemporary and 35% off Beach Club.

Did you book right away? Did you have any issues booking?
Also another question for you...have you ever stayed at Shades of Green?

We just booked today for the Grand Floridian in September this year. The cast member said we got 40% off. Four nights for $1600. This is the only way we’d ever be able to stay here. We’ll be celebrating my parents’ 40th anniversary!

So less than it should be. A deluxe is normally 40. This changes a lot for our budget. I will have to have a plan B and C lol

Why not try Shades? They changed the discounts this year and I wouldn’t necessarily expect them to revert to what they were last year. The discounts for military are never guaranteed and with SW:GE coming online soon who knows if they will even continue military salute and room discounts.

I am starting to look at SOG. I really prefer a Disney property just because we like the dining plan and the convenience of the ME.
I am wondering though if they are fazing out the military discount. I noticed they are added 60 day fp booking for SOG.
How far out does SOG start booking rooms. We are planning July 2019

They have been ramping down all discounts. They're selling more and more rooms at rack rate so there's less and less need for big discounts or as many discounts.

Which unfortunately prices us out of staying on property and going as often as we like. I am very grateful for the military discounts they have given. My son is disabled and without that he could not afford to go and take his daughter. I hope they don’t totally do away with it.

We are staying at BC and only received 30 -35% off and not the usually 40%, I was very disappointed as my first pick was WL and they did not offer a discount when I booked.
We have stayed at SOG many times and love it so it will probably be our next trip.

That’s good to hear about SOG. How far in advance can you book there? I am guessing they fill up fast??
If we tried to stay in property I was looking at POR because we need two rooms. Between my son and is girlfriend they have 4 kids which makes it harder to book rooms.
Who knows if they will even offer the discount in 2019

How do the SOG buses run? Is there ever any issue? We like to RD or a lot of times do breakfast in a park before it opens.

I booked in October. I used a Disney Travel Agent and she was able to get me exactly what we wanted.

I have never stayed at SoG. My husband doesn't want to be in that environment on vacation. It would be too much like being on a base and he would feel pressured to keep up a certain appearance. If we don't stay at a Disney Resort, we stay at the Swan or Dolphin.

We have a couple of reservations for later in the year. Both are at deluxes. The discount we received for both is 35%. The CM's said the discount was 40%. I've found it very helpful to take the rack rate (including tax) and calculate 35% off. That way I have a figure in mind before they quote. I keep my calculator closeby during calls just in case I need it.

I don't think they were trying to be misleading, I just think they don't really know. I didn't correct them, any discount is very appreciated.

Which resorts are you staying at? Just curious. I was really hoping to stay at Wilderness in the Boulder villas. With so many littles it’s nice to have a 1 bdrm for napping purposes

We have never had any problems getting to the parks before rope drop, WE like to be in line FIRST if possible..lol

My son felt that way when I first discussed it with him. But it really doesn’t seem like it would be too much like that. I’ll have to read some reviews on it. He is no longer active duty
