Anyone fly from Tulsa to MCO?

We are flying our son (student at U Tulsa) to WDW for a few days to join us. It appears there are no nonstops between Tulsa and MCO.
What itineraries have those of you in Tulsa found to work best?
Thanks for any advice.

Hi! We don't live in Tulsa now, but I did grow up in Oklahoma (Chandler) and my mom lives in Tulsa now. We currently live in Arkansas, but still sometimes fly out of Tulsa on trips when my mom is going with us.

No, there are no non-stops between Tulsa and Orlando. You will pretty much always have to change planes in either St. Louis, Atlanta, or Dallas. For us, it doesn't seem to make much difference. We just go with the best price and the best flight times.

On our upcoming December trip, our plane (American) leaves Tulsa at 7:39a.m., arrives in Dallas at 8:46a.m., leaves Dallas at 9:25a.m., and arrives in Orlando at 12:40p.m. That's really not too bad. If we were talking about a young child, I understand that a direct flight would be best since you wouldn't want to risk the transfers, etc. But, since your son is a college student, I wouldn't worry at all about not finding a direct flight.

We use several different ariports - Tulsa, OKC, Ft. Smith, Fayetteville, Little Rock, and Memphis - depending on who is going with us, etc. None of them offer non-stops to Orlando (or really anywhere else for that matter).

Just FYI: Memphis is a Northwest Airlines hub. There are 3 direct flights a day from Memphis to Orlando.

ColoradoMom:

I live in Tulsa. Like you said, there are no direct flights from Tulsa to MCO. I just usually find the best schedule for me, i.e. I like to leave really early in the morning and come back mid-afternoon. I travel a couple of times a year and I have found that no airline from here is really better or worse than the other; other than, I hate SWA's schedule to MCO. Their earliest flight is like 10:00 a.m. and doesn't get to MCO till 4:30 p.m. Tulsa is a very easy airport to get around. We like to call it "A cute little airport" (sung to the tune of Mayberry RFD) lol. Feel free to pm me with any other questions. As GEM mentioned, I look at other airport alternatives like OKC and Fayetteville, but in the end, unless a huge savings, I decide it's not worth the extra hassle when TUL is so simply to deal with. Good luck.

Thanks everyone!

As a college student, we are not worried about his having to change planes. He has no option but to fly out of Tulsa, but I was able to get him booked on Delta at $225 r/t. I was pleased to get such a good fare.

He also likes the ease of getting around the Tulsa airport. He'll have to wait for us to arrive from Denver into MCO (about 4 hours) but hey, he can do homework while he waits!

Thanks for all the good advice.
