Looking for some Suite info

Here's our input on this. We had one of the large mid-ship cat3's (8532) on the May Panama Canal cruise. I can't say how much we enjoyed it! Actually the best part was our neighbors...(there you go 3Dan.)

The room is huge. I have been on 16 cruises (last 3 on Disney) and have had some nice suites on RCL and NCL. None could compare to this one. The verandah is awsome..you could have a party out there. The bedroom is very large as is the bathroom in there. Nice jacuzzi tub. Large walk in closet. More storage space than the 3 of us could ever fill...and we don't pack lightly. The living room/dining area is just as nice. Comfortable places to sit and relax or have dinner from the dining room menu. (which we did..several times) It was amazing at times to be sitting in the chair with feet on the ottoman, DW reclined on the couch...and DD (almost 6) with stuffed animals and blankets all over the floor having a slumber party! And no onewas crowded. Very nice having the bar area with sink. Can't say enough good about the room. One thing I would suggest, if you are inclined to..is to share the room a little. You don't have to have it open for hours..but I talked to people who had been on many Disney cruises and really wanted to see a Cat 1,2 or 3 room but never had the opportunity. We had the chance to do that and it was really fun for everyone. I have already posted on the thread for the 7/8/06 cruise that we intend to do that again next year.

Now the concierge. They should make Caroline the Captain or something. She is a wonderful young lady who goes out of her way to make sure that you are happy. I think it was day 2 or 3 that she inquired if we were indeed having a "magical" trip..and we assured her we were. She was concerned that we had not asked for anything! As everyone says, there were goodies in the room everyday..good tasting goodies! And personalized coloring books for Taylor, which she treasures. Arcade cards. Binoculars to view the Panama Canal. Lithographs. Personalized schedules showing all of our scheduled activities. They will keep you happy..trust me.

I tried on board to book the same room for next summer..to no avail. Not available anytime in June or July. But they had the Walt Suite available for July 8th..so like a wild man (DW words) I booked that. We enjoyed some time with the occupants of the Walt suite during the cruise. (Thanks Chuck and Janice!) It is a beautiful room..no doubt. Our family would be just as happy though to have 8532 next year. But, what the heck..probably the only time I will get to enjoy being in 8530 so we're gonna do it!

Those of you that are booked in the cat3's are in store for a real treat. I have some pictures of the suite if anyone wants to see them. Just PM or email me and I will send them to you. Happy cruising everyone..just be aware: Once you stay in one of the suites....it's gonna be real hard to go back! (right 3Dan...Kendra?) Have fun.

I guess it's all in how you look at things. We have two teenagers who won't share a couch and are too big for the beds that come down from the ceiling...so for us, the extra room is nice. I don't pay the extra money to get concierge service. Especially now that we can book things online. I pay the extra money for the extra space in the rooms.

I wouldn't advise anyone to pay more money just for concierge. If the room you have booked is large enough for you, and you are comfortable with the cost, stay with it.

Jim....this may have been a typo on your part, but 8530 is the Roy Suite. 8030 is the Walt. They are identical except for the color of the wood paneling, and of course, the piano. Just on opposite sides of the ship. I only am pointing this out so that if you did book 8530, and really want the Walt, I wouldn't want you to be disappointed that you ended up in the Roy. (I wouldn't!)

Actually it was a typo...you are right..we have 8030 booked for next year. And I'm with you..I wouldn't be disappointed having either of them! Thanks for the correction.

I personally thing it IS incredibly cool. My DW however thinks it is incredibly insane to book that room. But I won. I'm the winner! And I know that when we go into that room next year..she will have a hard time not smiling! DD is on my side by the way..cause she got a nice little tour of the room also.

I'm with you, I pay the extra for the space not the concierge. Don't get me wrong, I love concierge  but I ALWAYS book for space wherever we stay. I'm just really picky about things being really nice and having lots of room.

We stayed in a Cat. 3 with a connected stateroom in Sept 04. The concierge staff was fantastic. They helped us with priority reservations and gave us advice since it was our first cruise. They did countless things for the kids. At the end of the cruise, they gave us a signed Disney character print. We enjoyed it so much that we have sprung for a Cat. 1 for July 06. Definitely meet them on the first day. They will leave you a note in your room when you arrive to call them and they will get together with you. It was only about a 30 minute meeting, but it was very worthwhile. Basically anything you would have to wait in line for at the Guest Services Desk, they can do for you.
