We are currently booked at the Grand Californian Jan 4-9 standard view. I was playing around on the Disney site and found that I can book Club Level at Paradise Pier for Jan 4-10 for the same price.

Would you switch?

Do any of the rooms at PP have bunk beds?

While I haven't stayed at the GCH, I would probably switch. Our last two trips we stayed at the PPH, and I really liked the extras you get with the club level...just being able to grab a quick bite before heading to the parks, as well as bottled water, and wine and beer later in the day.

I don't know if they have bunk beds, but the rooms have a fold out sofabed. How many are in your party? Ages? And will you also have a theme park view?

As much as I love GCH I think you'll benefit more from the club level amenities at PP than the closeness of GCH due to the duration of your trip. You will definitely be able to take advantage of the breakfasts & water bottles. If you do afternoon breaks you'll be around for appetizers in the evening & depending on when you return in the evenings you can grab dessert.

Yeah, I was thinking the club benefits sounded really cool. My husband will LOVE the beer option! There are three of us, me, my husband, and our 8 yr old daughter. She was really hoping for bunk beds. Ever since we stayed at GCH five years ago, she has been begging for bunk beds. It's certainly not a feature we need. I think the Disney touches I've seen in the photos will outweigh the bunk beds in her eyes.

Do you have to eat the breakfast and such in the lounge, or can you bring it back to your room?

Do you have to cross a busy street to get to the parks?

You can bring breakfast (and other snacks and drinks) to your room.

Yes, you do have to cross the street, however there is a signal and a crosswalk to the GCH, and follow the crowds to Downtown Disney.

We love the PPH! My kids love the little couch that turns into a bed. They fight over who gets to sleep in it! LOL. To us, the walk is super easy! I think for the same cost, concierge is worth it!

I'll be a dissenter here. I've not been to GCH, but if someone said I could do that one or PPH with all the extras, I'd stay at GCH. First, we never go back to the hotel during the day so appetizer and dinner snacks are worthless. Second, my kids are quite pleased, in fact they beg for, packaged powdered donuts on their Disney trips. And I usually get by on just a granola bar or oatmeal packet myself. To be able to stay steps away from the parks - that's something I couldn't pass up. Don't get me wrong: I love PPH. But if I had the money, I'd be at the Grand everytime.

Ok... I did it! I switched to the club level premium view at PPH!

My husband is a big breakfast eater and the beer in the lounge pushed it over the top for him.

The extra distance was a definite consideration, but we have stayed at GCH once before, so decided to take the plunge and try PPH.

I've heard that the walk to PPH can be just as long as to your room at GCH depending on where your room is at in the Grand....

For future reference...kids have to be SIX years old to sleep on the top bunk. And they're pretty high so if you have a nervous little ones or under 6 the GCH bunk beds won't work for you anyway :goodvibes
